I don’t know but they had to be displaced/furloughed from some base. Since no one has been furloughed since the merger, I can only comment on this as a South Pilot. I would bet most South former furloughee’s were funneled thru NYC on the way out the door. I’m sure there were other bases too but I’d guess the majority were NYC.

So, as someone who will likely by NYC UNA when this is run, once I convert to UNA, what are my responsibilities to Delta? None? Available within XX days if they assign me a new category?
Looking at picking up some outside work that doesn't lend itself to coming running when Delta calls once I know when I convert to UNA, and what I am held to at that point.

If the total number of large RJ's is forever reduced by 35 due to market forces or whatever, then that's correct. But if they do want them back as soon as capacity, etc. justify it, then that could be one way to get them back. If not, they stay gone. Biggest scope win in a while TBH.

A. Pilots who are UNA will be assigned to an aircraft and a base but will have no obligation to crew scheduling. You will not be qualified on an aircraft since you do not have a status. As always, you will be required to respond to your supervisor (Chief Pilot) within a reasonable amount of time if they reach out to you.
Q. How do I return from UNA status?
A. When the company determines that more active pilots are needed, they will proffer available positions to UNA pilots in seniority order. See Section 22 E. 19.

That's if Delta even furloughs, I can't imagine the government will let that happen after investing more than $50 billion.
Add to that the braintrust is still actually very, very worried about future burnbacks and their personal EPS based compensation. Their prime directive now is to turn down 5B in basically free loans with effectively no operational collateral because they don't want even a minor to moderate dilution of their precious shares, and they intend on collapsing to profitability to get to that point as fast as possible. Even if it means losing out on many billions in revenues and future profits for many years after that, and perhaps even permanently.
Even if a win win ALV solution could be reached, and there's some blame on both sides as to why it might not, it still seems like they have no intention on significantly outdoing the competition and are content on clinging to whatever little floating door of equity in the cold ocean of a big downturn watching the ship sink as half the lifeboats go unfilled.
But as long as there's no FA union and a higher future EPS based comp, its all good.

90s = 21 Jets
Every other jet could be brought back if needed.
The 88s were going to be gone by the end of the year anyway. So in reality, we’ve only reduced the fleet by 39 jets they weren’t planning on. (And the 90s only had a year or two left anyway)
