Would be nice to have some of that 15B back that we flushed down the drain for absolutely no long term value whatsoever so a few EPS based bonuses could be very slightly higher. Because they did that, if times get tough they may have to issue shares at falling knife prices. B-School genius.

So the No Furlough clause did have some albeit very limited value after all.
Keep in mind the situation then was much different. Back then we quickly parked all the three crew member aircraft resulting in all flight engineers bumping into Pilot spots causing more furloughs. We were not actively hiring and were very fat on Pilots. Much different situation now.

Even DALPA came out several months ago and recommended setting aside some of the Feb 14 bonus for a potential "strike fund".
That's saved my bacon more than once in my life. Airlines are a heck of roller coaster.

That didn't work out so well.
The more things change, the more they stay the same....

Why don’t you relax a little or at least hide your excitement for other airlines closing their doors and pilots being on the street (which won’t happen.) The Coronavirus will pass at some point. The time to be an airline pilot has been so good for awhile, that some of you don’t know how to act when things get tough. That includes the person that created this topic.

The chance of furloughs at Delta with the way our contract is structured is almost zero. In addition to the contractual issues the structure of the fleet makes furloughs with under a 2 year expectation of return simply not viable. If I worked for a airline with a limited number of fleet types I would be far more concerned.
What should be a concern at Delta is we are working with a amendable contract. The company has the ability to rewrite the contract without going through the chapter 11 process. If this virus progresses as some predict, it may well be the company requesting a release to self help in the fall not the union.
