There are NO 4 or 5 day trips for the 88. So much for those being more efficient/cost effective for the company.

Going out on a limb here but it might have something to do with cutting the flying dramatically and the cost of paying for long trips when they cancel.

some perspective is in order here, though... May is projected to be the lowest point in the dip before coming back up.

What dip are we talking about? Do you mean the peak of the infection case wave?

Or GDP?

Or unemployment?

bingo. Atl 320 pairings are mostly 1 and 2 day trips. 0 trips longer than 3 days. Making it hurt for commuters to push them to a p/kloa.

Shorter trips reduce exposure to situations where guys become symptomatic while on the trip.

In such cases air travel is not permitted, they’d have to call in sick and stay in the hotel or hospital where they are to recover. Delta would have to pay for the hotel, dh replacement, etc - all sorts of cash bleeding.

If the trips are short prior to signing and after the release you are on your own .. commuter or not.

Whenever the nadir is for flying demand, even if people want to fly, how are we going to spool flying back up for mid-June (as a hypothetical) when the bid pack at the beginning of May has 75% of pilots on reserve and bookings don’t pick up until after June schedules are published?

is it just me or does every single NYC 320 trip go from NYC, to MIA, FLL, MCO, MSY,DTW and/or layover in one of these spots?!I mean virtually EVERY single corona virus hotspot in the entire U.S. Sounds like a GREAT idea....

Sad that it has to be explained.

Be smart, wipe things down , wash hands and don’t touch your face. Whether in a hot spot or not.

oh I don't know, but places like Roanoke Va, Louisville, Oklahoma city, or I don't know 10000 other places that don't have 100,000 corona viruses in them. Building schedules that layover in unconventional cities for example, rather than laying over in the hot spot cities might be a novel approach to reducing our exposure in the most virulent cities in America. Just a little creative thought process.
