Default Quick RES Yellow Slip Question

So I'm a senior 7ERA and I got extended to 12 Jul for my recency. I need 2 TO/LDG and there is a 4 day Paris in Open time. Can I YS that specific trip and if so, when does it get awarded?. I have read some examples where a trip like this is awarded based on days of availability without regard to YS or seniority. Thoughts? Think I'd rather spend 48 hours in Paris as opposed to Va. Avenue!!!

Yes you can YS specific trip. It won’t be awarded until sometime after the 0700 PCS run day prior. It will be awarded using the progression listed in sect 23.

you could also try a trip buy if someone WS it before then.

Perhaps a call to CP office. CP may call Scheduling to put on your schedule for currency. If the trip is within 24 hrs, you can YS. I believe they usually award it on PCS run the day prior. Usually the AM PCS.

Thanks, I have called CPO twice and they offer no assistance other than having me update my "sim availability" I'd say there is a very slim chance that trip will survive in Open time until July 7. Now thinking of calling guys with trips that fit my RES days but there is so few trips in my category.....

YS, will only work if you're in the same bucket. Ie...if you have 5 days remaining and there is someone in the 4 day bucket, they'll still give it to the 4 day guy, even if you YS. Except in a few rare cases, IMHO YS are practically a waste of time. With all that is going on, even if you get it, there is a high probability that one of the other pilots will need a landing as well.

Exactly this. When I talked to scheduling, they explained that a YS only puts you at the top of the list for that trip or days you want to fly in the silo for days of availability you have. So, you can only YS a 4 day with 4 days availability, a 3 day with 3 days availability, etc etc. It sucks if you are trying to grab a 1 or 2 day with multiple days availability left ahead of you. You won't get it. They make it difficult to keep your currency even if you are actively trying.

^^^This right here^^^ and calls to the CPO are not effective either. I was told, "make sure you fill out your sim availability".

System was never designed for what is happening right now.

I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts and hope the company pulls through.

I don't intend to defend the companies actions but they are following the PWA assignment ladder. It caught me and now I'm expired because the YS only works for trips of exactly the length of days available. In times like these the PWA while intended to protect doesn't help with currency. I am glad they are assigning correctly per the PWA and wish they were this careful all the time. We don't need to create an extenuating exemption that ends up biting us later.

Best case scenario is it gets picked up on a WS and you can buy it for recency. Trip buy for recency isn’t allowed for trips in open time because that subverts the PWA rotation coverage rules. To buy a trip that’s already on someone’s line (i.e. not in open time), go on DeltaNet/My Division/Admin/Forms and Reports and fill out a request. I recommend calling CS to follow up a day or two later. But sure beats a sim in my opinion!
