Good post.
If working three days a week instead of four means everyone keeps their job, I'm all for it. ALV reductions are a GIVE from the company. They get less productive pilots which means they need more pilots. Do you even remember where we are at in negotiations with the kompany before this all started? To say they won't hold us UNAs hostage for PWA concessions is fools play. Don't give in to them, not one millimeter. |

Anyone notice in today’s NN for the VEOP, the NC stated “In the unlikely event that Delta declares bankruptcy during the term of this VEOP...” ALPA isn’t convinced of the dire financials of the company which tells me they would negotiate an ALV reduction if the membership wanted it. |

No, don't do it. Please. Don't.
Your stance can’t be clearer. No one is advocating for anything more than an ALV reduction. I see this as an opportunity to build unity by helping my fellow pilots. I would not accept a deal that had anything more than a temporary reduction in ALV along with a commensurate reduction in days worked. That’s all it has to be and the company can waste time hoping for a “comprehensive” agreement with more gives but that certainly won’t happen. We go forward as a group and get much closer to that fabled unicorn that is “unity” by helping our brethren when times get tough. If you can’t appreciate that gesture, then we’ll have to agree to disagree. |
Drum, I understand you're pessimistic, and for good reason, but we have no idea what they are asking. You may well be right that the company is asking for certain concessions (scope, per day credit, pay rates, etc) and I would be against those.
All I'm saying is; reducing the ALV is not a concession. It makes us less productive, and therefore is a concession to the company. I understand it hurts the max-credit-window guys, but to the pilot group and the profession, it's a win. The only reason it's also a win to the company today, is their overall payroll is reduced even though their cost per pilot is increased. |

I’m a little baffled that after reading this thread, people are still arguing for ALV reductions. If the JB peeps are right, they’ve just secured furlough protection without a reduction to their monthly guarantee. Why would we argue for outdoing them in concessions?
Second, we don't know what JB has negotiated yet. |

Something was given to offset carrying more pilots, we just don’t know what it was yet. Someone upthread (or maybe in another thread) mentioned one of their management peeps said publicly they secured concessions in exchange for no furloughs. Obviously that could be extreme management-speak but ALPA agreed to changes to save jobs. Maybe JB just set the market regarding furlough protection. Let’s wait and see how they did it. |

If the company wants something from us, it's a concession. Otherwise they would just give it to us as a gift. So i guess that makes the severance a concession? 😆 |
