Now that the 330 fleet is looking for SLI’s, that same pilot is being told he’s not eligible because he is not current and qualified on the 330.

I’d assume the reason behind it is they need the instructors now. It would take ~6 months for someone not already on the fleet to be spun up to teach. In the past they used to always allow no experience in the fleet, but since they haven’t hired SLIs in so long I guess things are different

Those are great jobs, please consider applying!
I am a DGP guy, but I wish I have done this when I was still active.

I am sure SLIs on this forum can answer logistical questions.
For those of us facing furlough that are interested but soon to be ineligible, are the non-SLIs (DGS) hiring?

There were brochures in the LGA pilot lounge a month ago. I’m guessing that means yes.

I noticed they are hiring SLIs again. I'm still considering it. My understanding is that you fly 3 months out of the year. Do you fly 3 months in a row or are the months spread out through the year. What is a typical schedule? I know you work 17 events per month, but I was curious how many days in a row you can expect. Can you get some weekends off as a new guy? Thanks for any input from current or former SLIs.

Be aware that you will owe GA income tax if you accept a SLI job. Can be a big hit if you live in a no tax state.

you usually fly 3 months a year. And they are spread out.

they know if you are a commuter, so the scheduler will try to give you groupings of days.

you get to pick 6 days off per month. No matter your seniority.

it’s a great job as a local. It’s a descent/good job as a commuter

Do you bid for 6 days or do you actually get to pick them? Do the Sims run on holidays?

you pick the 6 days! 😁

technically only 4 of the 6 are golden, but I never had the other 2 denied.

The 320 sims did not run on Thanksgiving or Xmas. I don’t know about other fleets
