Default ALPA is a JOKE

I have not been on these forums in years. I do not know if a thread about this already exists. However, I am here to tell you that ALPA has failed us at Delta. Have you noticed that all they do is send out emails concerning "how to be furloughed" as many folks stand to lose their job? When are people going to stand up and call this out as the hoax it really is? I am amazed that people are not screaming bloody murder as we continue to pander to this political exercise to squash the economy. ALPA has our dues money and significant resources yet they continue to move along like this hoax is really a reason not to fly in our planes. Guys, we have nothing left to lose. Our airplanes are at 10% capacity and we are slashing 1/3 of our seniority list (for now, probably more!). When is ALPA going to stand up for it's pilots and call out this ridiculous hoax? Have you read about anyone getting Covid on planes? It only happens if the leftist media says it's happening. Is it because they are focused more on the election and the airlines have already been crushed, or is there actually no problem here? You be the judge. Require our union to stand up for our jobs!

Agreed. They have been pretty quiet. I'm just looking for my more liberal pilot friends to thank DJT for supporting the airlines in the first place. He has been the main champion behind us more than anyone else. I haven't even heard of Joe's plan for the airlines. Heck Nancy even acknowledges our importance.

Standing by for incoming...

ALPA should have already had Congress pass legislation requiring everyone to fly at least 90% of what they did in 2019. Failing that they should be out dragging people on the airplanes! By the way, it’s not the airplane part that keeps most people from flying it’s everything else when you get to your destination.

Agreed!

Also, ALPA needs to tell all of these countries in Asia and Europe to open up their borders and start flying! Damn lazy ALPA!

Probably would have said it another way... but yes. I agree. The only way out of this quagmire is with some outspoken leadership. Right now politicians re looking at the masses and vice versa.

Alpa by virtue is leadership and thus must take a position. Right now they haven't even been unequivicol...... hyper fence sitting is now an institutionalised national pastime it seems.

IMO there are more than enough people willing to fly to get to 60% capacity across all carriers domestically right now. As mentioned above, nobody is going to waste their money on some half a**ed vacation to Vegas with many restaurants closed, social distancing and mask crap. Wife and I considered a domestic lower 48 vacation with all the time off this summer but passed due to the reason I just stated. We both could deal with the mask on the planes and airport hassle to get to the destination but after looking through all of our options, we just drove to a state park for a few days. Until the national, local and state gubmints drop all of the absurd restrictions, I believe we are stuck at sub 1 million per day TSA numbers.

I do agree about one thing in your post. The way air travel is being handled is a joke(not ALPA's fault). They wont sell seats because of spacing, but you have people all around you less than 6 feet apart. The person in front of you is usually one or two feet away. Open the planes up, and if people choose to fly, let them do it.
