Its not a 5 hour reduction. It’s a slight widening of the TLV window from 75-80 to 72-80, but all TLVs must stay within 5 hours.

I suspect that’s to keep from letting some fleets run fly too much while others not so much.

Doubtful just based on timelines

ok...you are giving me more credit than due..I just read the targeted line value definition in the pwa, and it, and you...are at FL350. Maybe it’s cause I had an A period MV today, but probably not....can someone put this in English? How does TLV work, and what are the effects of widening it by 3 hours then?

First off congrats this deal looks great. I’m skeptical though as it seems to good.....

how many pilots can the company make UNA?

UNA pilots get 30 hrs 717 FO pay. So if this gets voted in could DL put out a bid to force 4000 pilots UNA? Now there is a cost savings. As of right now I don’t see that as being prohibited.

There was something in the bullet points that said all UNAs that had received furlough notices would be given 30 hours/month. As of now there are only 1941/1721 pilots with furlough notices.

The thing to focus on here is that the min TLV is going from 75 to 72. With the old window, if the company wanted to ride through the winter at 72 hour ALVs, they had to make up for it with high ALVs in the summer. Now that min TLV is 72 and min ALV is 72, they can run us at 72 hours all year long. Bottom line, this gives them the flexibility to not flex up if the demand isn't there. They can run us at 72 hours from now until the LOA is phased out, or incorporated into the next PWA. On the pilot side of the equation, we avoid an ALV cut. So we will always be guaranteed at least 72 a month. We also get the flexibility we've been asking for forever of more time off in the summers.

ALV (72-84 for NB, 71-85 for WBs) is the average line vale for any category in a given month. This is the same for all equipment/seats regardless of base (all 73N-Bs will have the same ALV in a given month)
TLV (75-80) is the rolling 12 month range any given category’s ALV must average out to. If you have 6 months of 72 hr ALVs in a specific category, the remaining 6 months ALVs must average to at least 78 hrs.

this appears to temporarily allow ALV to be 72 in all categories (slight give on our part) but we get a lower TLV window long term (73-78 hrs), which I see as a small win for our pilot group, in addition to all the other good things that come from this agreement

Gives the company more flexibility to match flying with demand.

You missed the part in red...
  • Monthly pay of 30 hours, DC contributions and active medical for all UNA pilots who received furlough notices, even if they have not completed initial training at Delta. These pilots will not have a flying obligation to the Company nor will they have restrictions on outside employment.
