Moderna and Pfizer are both 2 dose vaccines. We would need ~650,000,000 doses between the two to vaccinate everyone in the USA (including children). That number assumes zero wastage. The only single dose COVID vaccine I am aware of is JnJ if that gets approved. Also if we do overbuy we can sell (but more likely give) it to other countries

The truly startling thing is that the Moderna vaccine was ready to go in 2 days. It took the 10 months of testing (at "Warp Speed") before it could be broadly administered.

Now it's go-time, and there aren't near enough doses to go around.

Current administration aiming for 1 million doses administered (of all vaccines) per day for 100 days. That's one dose per person for roughly 1/3 of the country.

Be interesting to see if everyone (or close enough to everyone) gets enough by years end.

We banned it, but wait then we didn't. See Lancet retraction.

Good grief, you still that clueless?

Get in line behind sailing for your experimental vax.

Phins,

I looked for the Lancet retraction of their original retraction and can’t find it. Do you have a link?

And is Biden president or not?

Good news!

Fauci came out declared double layering (2 masks) is "just common sense".

But not just two cloth masks, oh no. The cloth mask goes on the outside, the surgical mask on the inside.

Coming soon to a cockpit near you? Science!

(Passengers are going to love this. Inner one supposed to be N95, and good luck providing those in bulk)

As I breathe and fog my glasses I realize I’m not breathing through the mask but around it(the old path of least resistance rule). Two layers will increase resistance and more air will go around rather than through the mask.

Yes, I try to seal the mask the best I can. I inhale through it and exhale around it.

And why are masks not treated as bio-waste?

The pressure the mask causes also pushes the air further out away from your face into other people’s faces. And we were told the mask we wear is for other people’s protection not for the wearers protection. So even though other people around you are masked up that mask is not for protecting them. If we were going to do this right we needed to develop washable N95’s.

I'm not getting the vaccine either, but I'm looking for a bear skin hat with horns. Any ideas?

I stand corrected. When they were handing out brains, I thought they said trains. I said no thanks, I did not want to be an engineer.

We aren’t vaccinating everyone in the US. It’s only approved for over 16.

That’s about 220 million people.

We have 100 million from each In the first round. We have already ordered more.

We have also have 100 million J&J.

That covers the 200 million. About what we need and actually over what we need when you consider the fact that only 70% of the people say they want it.

That drops the number to about 155 million.

The latest data show better than 90% protection 7 months in for those that have had it. That certainly will help as well.
