Well as I sparked the conversation, latest flight ops email says many will probably double train. Priority is reducing NQAT pilots asap. Says for summer demand but I imagine it's summer and beyond. Especially until the TOE line is reduced. Guess I shouls mentally prep for that NYC commute lol

A way to reduce NQAT would have been to not have done the MOAD/UNA first then every step after. They caused this faux crisis, now we are going to pay for it for the next 6 months while they try to undo it. As much as I disagreed with United’s split plan, it was genius. They reduced pilot costs while keeping nearly everyone qualified ready to go. That’s why United is able to offer NH spots much sooner and many more.

It would be the most logical thing to do imo. Unless I'm missing something? Double training seems unproductive and very costly, unless they truly wait until next Spring, I guess. But will that hurt ER plans come winter/holiday season? Maybe TOE is so backed up doesn't matter they won't get guys out anyways. Therefore if that's the case I totally see myself going to NYC.
Well the most logical thing to do was offer SIL's over a year ago. But this management is more concerned with optics and such to care about the bottom line. So who knows what they are going to do. All I know is their staffing shortage that they caused is not my problem and thus will never extend a single FDP period, because in the end its all about safety 🤣.

We’re completion experts. Our own worst enemy at times. Unfortunately we put up with pairings like this due to aforementioned sentence. The only way this will really change is if it affects the operation negatively. With our new fatigue rules, that would be by many fatigue calls. Only then will they stop building legal, but unsafe (by pilot standards) trips.

I think the only people who are/did is management. As quick as they ran to the NMB with out even really negotiating on any of our bigger asks says it all. They don't care about us, when it affects the stock buy backs to pad their pockets when they get their stock options. Personally I'd rather have a very robust stock option plan and I trade our profit sharing for it. Why pay short term cap gains when I can claim long term.

I say fatigue often and early if your are in the most bit hesitant about being fatigued for you next flight just call out. The FAA/NTSB says the more fatigued you are the less you are able to actually define when you are fatigued. So why go that far? If you think your going to be tired call it in, let the company deal with the out come. You owe those passengers a safe flight and a safe flight might not be you working that flight.

I was MD'd to NYC 320 from a closing ER base on the may 2020 AE, then went back to my home base 320 on the Sept AE. I was projected to train OCT2020 for a NOV2020 conversion. They started to give me training in October, but it conflicted with a Nov vacation... and I haven't heard anything since. So I've been sitting at home with a 9 month old being paid since Oct wondering if I've slipped through a crack. My name isn't on the latest sim schedule looking all the way to the end of may. Curious if there are others out there like me, or if it's a fluke.

Somewhat similar case. You’re definitely not the only one but I don’t know how many there are.
