I don’t know how long you’ve been here but it has not “always been this way” with reserve. When I was hired there was no such thing as a RAW score etc. Assigning trips on reserve always went to the junior guy until s/he was filled up. This is exactly the problem, from a company perspective, the RAW system was designed to solve. It keeps some semblance of seniority while allowing reserve flying to be spread out more equitably. The same thing applies to Greenslip’s. It used to be strictly seniority based only. Not the current senior guy gets one then goes to bottom of list for the month.

I simply responded to post 479 (TED), which asked the question of how to spread out the flying during unprecedented times. I responded, change the RAW score system as an answer to the question. I never mentioned a change to seniority, I suggested a different system, one where after a reserve flies, they go to the bottom of the availability list. Again, a suggestion to a posted question. A number of you proceeded to imply things I never said, including a moderator (scoop).

If you think you are flying too much relative to your peers figure out what they are doing. It probably includes NOT being junior in the seat. If you have no choices as of the latest AE then you are truly junior and will just have to wait. I wait until a minimum of 80% in category before I bid it. I have never been disappointed. I also bid reserve intentionally both international and domestic. Contact someone on the PBS committee to help you bid, it does wonders to know the contract and the PBS logic.

I would say the only portion that is weird for seniority purposes is that una’s are not flying and getting full pay. But that will end and they will go back to 30 hours of pay. So everyone right now is having to sacrifice something. Even senior people on narrow body fleets are flying.

JC, relative seniority wasn’t enough? That is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen regarding travel on one’s own airline.
