I don’t know how long you’ve been here but it has not “always been this way” with reserve. When I was hired there was no such thing as a RAW score etc. Assigning trips on reserve always went to the junior guy until s/he was filled up. This is exactly the problem, from a company perspective, the RAW system was designed to solve. It keeps some semblance of seniority while allowing reserve flying to be spread out more equitably. The same thing applies to Greenslip’s. It used to be strictly seniority based only. Not the current senior guy gets one then goes to bottom of list for the month.

while there seem to be some things at DL where seniority is weighed too heavily (IMO pass travel should be time of check in not DOH, but I know not everyone agrees and I respect that) .from the best I can tell, reserve, green slips, and vacation all seem to be very reasonable and equitable. To a reasonable extent, senior people should get first crack at premium flying and have first choice to fly or not on reserve. And in most circumstances, everyone but the bottom 500 or so active pilots made a choice as to their relative seniority.

I agree with our current system. I don't see a need to spread flying around more. Besides every word we change in the PWA gives it new meaning and opens it up for interpretation. Don't fix what ain't broken.

If you think you are flying too much relative to your peers figure out what they are doing. It probably includes NOT being junior in the seat. If you have no choices as of the latest AE then you are truly junior and will just have to wait. I wait until a minimum of 80% in category before I bid it. I have never been disappointed. I also bid reserve intentionally both international and domestic. Contact someone on the PBS committee to help you bid, it does wonders to know the contract and the PBS logic.

I would say the only portion that is weird for seniority purposes is that una’s are not flying and getting full pay. But that will end and they will go back to 30 hours of pay. So everyone right now is having to sacrifice something. Even senior people on narrow body fleets are flying.

That's because the junior guys are sitting at home on NQ status...

Guys should be able to sell their seniority numbers once per year to the highest bidder.

JC, relative seniority wasn’t enough? That is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen regarding travel on one’s own airline.
