JC, relative seniority wasn’t enough? That is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen regarding travel on one’s own airline.

The people in the AA world think it’s the smartest thing ever.

discuss

Pilots are cheap. The highest bidder is probably 3 pairs of new balances. Used.

Concur that not everyone agrees. My question would be... does anyone? :-)

It is truly amazing what some will go for. I’ve flown with a captain several times that would pay me $20 for a stack of 15 $1 bills at the beginning of a trip because he hated getting them himself.

That's a good idea for a business. One dollar bill machines in all crew rooms. 19 ones per 20 dollar bill.

Get 100 - $1s and keep them next to the socks. Pack them 20 at a time like any other trip necessity. They are a consumable item just like toothpaste and shaving cream.

Or you could just bid Haneda. You haven’t gone full pilot until you bid your schedule based on the lack of van driver tips :D

This is 2021 and we are still tipping cash. I agree with the Captain that would exchange $20 for $15 in $1s because it is an inconvenience to get them. Every driver should have their mobile payment QR code posted in the van so we can tip on the phone during the ride. Rideshare like Uber and Lyft are so convenient because all payments are mobile. Over in China even the elderly have fully transitioned to mobile payments. One of the benefits of COVID-19 is it accelerated mobile payments here in the US. Noticed alot more restaurants in the airport have it with many refusing cash

That's how AA does it

that’s how AA does it and it makes travel more predictable, going by TOC people are encouraged to check in 24 hours out and once you check in no one can bump you down in your own category. Trying to guess and plan for people listing at the last minute who are senior to you is not as easy as just listing 24 hrs out and once you list knowing that is your spot on the non rev list
