Default Anyone own a sleep number bed?

So, totally unrelated from what kind of plane do you own, I know no one that owns a sleep number bed. Does anyone have any experience with sleep number beds? My special lovely lady is trying to convince me to buy one...

We had a pricey one that had full articulation on both sides. When we moved we ended up getting rid of it and buying a new one. My wife thought it was “good” I didn’t necessarily care for it or find it that comfortable. The biggest issue wasn’t the beds fault, as a king, and with the adjustable, it was just two twin beds stuck together. It left a divide right down the middle which drove me crazy. For what it’s worth though, we gave it to my grandparents and they have really enjoyed it. They also stay well to their own side and never go near the middle so don’t notice. They like that one can sit up and watch tv while the other reads or sleeps etc.

We bought an “avocado” mattress online after a month of research and it’s been the best mattress I’ve owned.

I also don’t work at Delta, so most of this info could be of little to no value.

Some Radisson hotels had them like a decade or more ago. I didn't like them, they had some kind of a loud vacuum pump to adjust them and I could never find my "number." I was convinced mine was a sleep letter. Could be totally different now, I have no idea.

Go and try some memory foam mattress.

Me and my wife decided to go this route with “Split King” position beds. Also with the split king (two twin XL beds), each of you can pick whatever mattress hardness you want. So far, we’ve been with them for 2 years and we haven’t had any issues.

I've likened them to fancy blow-up mattresses. Yes they pop. Yes they feel kinda the same way.

Similar to sleep number with adjustment air chambers but it's all passive. Custom made to order in the northeast...... Maybe you have already tried one at an HGI about 10 yrs ago.....?

Great timing on this thread. No crap, just got back from the sleep number store. Stupid cancer has left my old man needing to sleep in an inclined position, so I'm trying to find him a nice option. My sister and bro-in-law love/swear by theirs, but I've heard mixed reviews from other. Interested in what people have out there.

15 yr warranty...100% first year and going down 4% thereafter. 100 day fully refundable/exchange option. 30 day min to ensure you like it. Not sure if it's a local thing but they're running specials right now.

My sleep number is 6000. As in not going to pay $6000 for a mattress. We bought a Sealy pillow top in 2002 we’re still using. Going to replace this year but not at 6K. Tough to justify that when you sleep on a $30 mattress in the top bunk of a Crashpad.

There’s a great Freakonomics podcast on why mattresses are so deliberately overpriced.

How does the average worker afford 4-6K for a mattress. ? 84 month financing I’m guessing.

I really disliked them when Radisson used to have them. Articulating beds are nice for sinus issues and snoring. As far as mattresses go, I like our foam bed. It's completely isolated so you don't disturb each other rolling around or getting up at night. One downside is it's less comfortable on my side than our old innerspring, but I still like it better overall. Nowadays, they have a lot more options than when we bought ours years ago. Something like Sleep on Latex's medium firmness would be perfect for me. CR's adjustable air category has the worst ratings compared to foam and innerspring, but we're talking 80 vs 82 and 85 for the top models. Whatever you decide, most companies offer a 100 night guarantee, so I'd suggest using that to find what you like.

FWIW, CR rated the "Sleep on Latex - Pure Green Firm" higher than any air mattress and is significantly cheaper, but I know nothing of that company personally.
