Ed also said, when asked about pilot hiring (by MSNBC I think) he said none is planned for this year. However, if growth continue then it js possible they'll hire pilots and flight attendants by the end of the year.

wonder if he’s just saying that for now, but I don’t see how we can’t hire when basically every other airline is starting to

Doing some review in advance of the call and I came across this statement in last years 10K.
"We have developed strategic relationships with a number of airlines and airline services companies through joint ventures and other forms of cooperation and support, including equity investments. Our equity investments reinforce our commitment to these relationships and generally enhance our ability to offer input to the investee on strategic issues and direction, in some cases through representation on the board of directors."
There are no major decisions at these subsidiaries that Delta is not a part of. Aircraft purchases, routes, branding etc. The proper mind set will be required to evaluate the proposed SCOPE landscape change in the upcoming Sect. 6 negotiations. In other words, there is no plausible deniability when it comes to our "partners" (subsidiaries) which is a consistent argument management tries to use.

I have been lobbying for our MEC to do their homework. They need to understand these new JV structures.

well I for one don't enjoy being so short staffed that theres zero schedule manipulation allowed. Summer of 2019 was bonkers, if they claim that summer of 2022 is going to be close to 2019, and we were understaffed then, then maybe we should get the ball rolling. I'm not holding my breath for it, just a thought to not be running "hot" like before.

Summer 21 will be more lucrative for pilots than summer 19 was due to the less than ideal staffing decisions that have been made.

Not if you are at max line vale and can't change your PBS award. 84 hours is more than enough for me. And the days I have off aren't any of the ones I bid or want because coverage awards and inadequate reserve staffing.
