More important is the lack of beachfront layovers in MIA, FLL, and TPA. JAX also needs something else but the beaches are so far from the airport at least 45 mins.

I'm fine with downtown as long as the homeless population is under control.

This is my biggest complaint. Staying in coastal beach cities and being nowhere near the beach

This! LAX layover and were in the dump of downtown when we could be on the beach in Santa Monica.

LA layover is actually nice now. Long beach close to the beach.

As was mentioned by someone else I think the bigger issue is the 12 hour cutoff. If I’ve got close to 12 hours to grab a bite to eat and wind down and get some decent sleep the last thing I want to do is waste 30 minutes each way on a drive. I don’t know of anyone that is going out and hitting the trails or seeing the sights in such a short window. The FAs have 15 I think which is too far the other way. I think 13 or 13.5 is a nice happy medium. It’d be nice to be able to work with the company on some city-specific carve outs, including the beach cities as others have mentioned.

Where this really comes into play is with the optimizer going full throttle I’ve seen many 4 day trips on the 717 where every layover is less than 13 hours. That’s just exhausting in and of itself plus depending on where your staying you’re losing a ton of previous layover time in transport.

TPA - Airport to Clearwater beach can be 30+ min. Friday and Saturday can be 45-60. Not sure I want the beach.
MIA- We are practically on the water. $2 and 3 stops on the bus you are on Ocean drive. Food is a little cheaper where we are now. I like this layover as is.
FLL- We have changed hotels so many times here. Where we are now you can trolley for $1 or run to the beach. Food and grocery store much better where we are now. The old old setup was pretty sweet though.
JAX- Atlantic Beach? Too far!!!!

It doesn’t have to be either downtown or the airport. Plenty of nice suburb type areas that are way better than both the airport and some downtown layovers. And I agree that 12 hours for “downtown” is way too short. I’d rather haVe the FA policy of 15 or more “downtown” and anything less closer to the airport with a few exceptions like BOS. Problem with this topic is everyone has an opinion. Send an email to your reps and let them know how you feel and if the majority wants change then hopefully we can make it happen.

We were talking about DTW. I might have mixed up my airport ICAO codes but I'm fairly certain that is the code for Detroit.
