Golf on layovers

Golf on layovers
Hello everyone.
Do you play golf? Do you like to play golf on your layovers? Where are you favourite destinations/courses to play on? Do you carry your clubs with you or rent them each time from the courses?
I'm a keen golfer and I'd love to play more on my layovers however I can't carry clubs with me. So with transport, renting equipment and greens fees it can be pretty expensive. Looking for ideas on where to play. I work for Emirates so we fly to many of the major airports all over the world.
Really appreciate any input.

Many of the pilots that I have flown with left a second (or third) set of clubs at the layover hotel of their favorite courses. Some golf courses will also store a bag for you.
I'm not sure how your bidding system works, but these pilots were all senior in fleet and seat, and could bid for the layovers that they wanted.

I like to play on layovers but a lot of moving parts .
I keep a glove in bag and small set of T’s , if I really know I’m golfing on the trip I bring balls . But just rent a set at the course I am going too . Often if they know I’m an airline guy on a layover they ll give me the rentals for free . Now that being said the rentals are often garbage . But better than nothing .
More often than now the guy I’m flying with isn’t a golfer, so often go solo or just hit the range .

Same with skiing. Rental equipment is just never like your own stuff. And the logistics of bringing your equipment on a 4 day for one overnight are just a pain. Add in lift ticket, rental car, and rental and it’s an expensive day. Often just waste the day in the hotel wishing I was skiing. Done it a few times and loved it but it was expensive and labor intensive if I brought my own stuff.

I've flown with a few avid golfers. One guy just brought along shoes, glove, balls and tees and rented clubs. Another guy I flew with kept a separate set of clubs at the course he liked to play most and would use ShipSticks to move his clubs around when he wanted them somewhere else. I asked about this and he said it could be as cheap as $40 to ship them with a months notice up to as much as $200 with a weeks notice.
TopGolf is another fun option on layovers if you're with someone who is interested in golf but not necessarily interested enough for the time commitment, hassle and expense of rentals and a full 18.

Snowboard equipment is utter garbage. You really can’t just bring your own boots and rent the demo level board bc it doesn’t exist like in rental skis.
