He is referencing something put out a while back by the CEO.

A few NYC trips begin with a DH to ATL. Guess hotel rooms in NYC really are that big of a problem.

We need the Georgia Legislature to stop trying to impose fuel taxes that drive Ultra Long Haul flying to other bases.
Atlanta is not ideally situated geographically for ULH. Especially with the 350. Range is big issue out of ATL for places like BOM, and SYD. LAX, SEA, NYC, even DTW provide much better range capture of a variety of large global cities.

Why do you think it is fuel taxes that 'drive' that flying to other bases? ATL is a hub. It is our largest hub, but it is still a hub just like NYC and DTW and SEA. Unless you could show that the O&D traffic out of ATL is sufficient to support regular flights to SYD and BOM and the like, it really matters not whether or not the flying goes from there. And I would wager that if it DID support that kind of flying, DAL would buy a fleet that could do it.

Fixed it for you. Because using cheap pilots and RJs for low end scope won’t save DAL as much as replacing more expensive airplanes and pilots with a cheaper foreign carrier.

Long haul international flights have long been used as carrots to prevent high taxes in many hubs.

This. ATL-SYD ain't happening. Delta would have to block half the seats on the 350 or purchase the 777X

Agree...anyone can log onto DeltaNet and read the Flight Standards analysis of ATL-JNB. The 350 will be load limited from about 70% to 90% depending on time of year. Sydney is further from ATL.

What and when did you negotiate with airline management? In what capacity?

It is common sense to learn the perspectives of your counter-party and downright foolish not to.
