Yep - here's the info from the MEC Chairman's Letter:

While in session, we were notified that the expedited arbitration of this MEC grievance has been scheduled for next month, July 13-15. Our PWA calls for a decision to be made within 90 days of the grievance’s filing, which would be August 23.

Is the arbitrator bound to the timeline in our PWA?

I don't see where there is any middle ground for a settlement. Its not like either side will come back with 17 jets. The company was given (has taken) a free kick on the goal. It's either a goal or a miss.

The company offers something of value for bringing the aircraft online. Say a 14 hour long call. The union has to decide if taking the long call verses possibly losing the arbitration and getting nothing is a smart move. As I mentioned a arbitrator might provide discreet guidance which way he is leaning to try and force a settlement.

Just curious… would positive space to/from work [permanent contractual] be enticing?

This leads to commuter vs non-commuter pi$$ing contests. And is that the hill we want to die on for that? When there’s other areas of our contract that need more improvement such as NOT GIVING IN ON SCOPE, and for QOL, such as reroute rules/protection, vacation, deadhead, and tons of others. Trading RJs for positive space commuting is stupid, and I’m a commuter.

You would honestly trade more RJs on the line for PS commuting? Seems like selling out to me with way more contractual NEEDS out there.

Oh I didn't say that. I said it would be enticing. Not as a stand alone, but part of a package.

Fair enough. It would have to be one heck of a package.

Scope is not for sale.

Settling now would be the equivalent of taking the first offer from the insurance company after someone hits your car.
