Exactly the point we need to make and I think the only place we can press it forward is in the streets.

Let's take the exchange for scope out of this conversation for a second. Positive space commuting doesn't have to be an "us vs them" topic. As a non-commuter, I would 100% back up positive space commuting. I like to know that my fellow pilot isn't stressing about making it home to their kids t-ball game or even make it home that night. People may choose to commute out of base and impact me in a positive way or choose to come to my base which and hurt my seniority lol. Bottom line, positive space commuting would be a big win. Who knows I may move out of base down the road and it could end up being a great benefit for me too. Sometimes being a part of a union means you go along with things that good for all, not just you. Again, I'm not talking about exchanging this for scope.

As far as “selling scope” I’d rather have an arbitrator screw us then have our union screw us.

This is absolutely a reasonable approach to it. And I agree, something that is good for the pilot group as a whole should be a win. Unfortunately some view everything as a how does it effect me lens, and anything that isn’t a win for them is invariably a loss.

plenty of ~15 year old 76 seat RJs in our DCI fleet. At the moment they have headroom in the 70 seat category so they could just pull 6 seats out and keep flying some/most/all of them.

only thing that would sway me to allow those 35 RJs back is better JV scope, starting with a minimum 50% of JV ASMs flown by delta seniority list pilots.

only thing that would sway me to allow those 35 RJs back is better JV scope, starting with a minimum 50% of JV ASMs 50% ASM baseline, plus remainder of flying to be proportional to company ownership (DAL owns 49% of company X means 50% of ASM as baseline, plus 49% of the remaining ASM, for a total of 74.5% of ASM) flown by delta seniority list pilots.

Fixed it for you. This, plus 2:1 catch-up for any quarter where DAL fails the balance. So if the company shorts us 5% of ASM over a quarter, the next quarter’s percentage for DAL pilots is increased by 10%.

If Delta wanted them so bad they could have kept them along with the flow back that was part of the deal in exchange for having them in the first place. Not only did Delta not do that, they thought they could keep them without even having a flow back in place until they actually furloughed.

What's worse is the company's attitude that they can add or remove the flow back and 35 RJs as it suits them.

id be down for that. I’m thinking of it more one bite at a time. but I think the first step is making sure we are doing AT LEAST half the JV ASMs for each respective JV. Ownership caveats would be great as well.

Positive space commute could be from anywhere to your domicile. A guaranteed ride back from vacation.
