My apologies if I ruffled some feathers with my question. That was not my intention. I have no expectation of being owed the job from Delta and I certainly don’t expect them to bend over backwards for me. The questions was merely a hypothetical as I am just trying to gather information on all the possibilities considering this is truly a life changing decision I am about to make. I have several friends at majors currently and based off their stories/timelines I was a little surprised at how quick the entire application to interview process was for me which has lead me to this potential situation. Again my apologies if it came off as obnoxious or showing any sort of lack of integrity, that is certainly not how I carry myself in my professional life.

You owe nobody here an explanation bro, you're good. People decided to make assumptions on their own and ran with it. The main piece of advice still stands for your situation and potentially anyone else that may need some sort of accomodation starting Indoc: Communicate early and be honest. DL was very accomodating from some stories I heard from fellow pilots at Indoc. Best of luck and welcome!

Don’t sweat it. Just be forthright with your future employer and prepare for the worst possible case. If that worst case scenario is intolerable to you then change what you can to meet your goal. Dal is hiring mil guys up to a year out so there’s precedent for delaying a start date; if you wish to change an availability date from what u represented before then just make sure it passes the reasonableness test. Btw, we here do not qualify as arbiters of ‘reasonable’ so keep your privacy and ask someone else you trust.

How do these fall seniority-wise? What’s generally been most senior, most junior?

What would a 2xxx be looking at? Generally.

Default Next AE

Does the number of new hires drive the AE schedule? Doesn’t a vacancy need to be advertised via the AE process in order for a new hire to fill it?

Yes. and Yes (PWA 22.E.10)

BS has specifically mentioned in the past the need to post an AE due to running out of NH vacancies. In addition, those NH vacancies can only come from the most recent AE (there is no 'bank' from which to pull).

Every class is different and varies wildly depending on where people are coming from. No way to predict where you’ll fall with a lower social. FWIW, mine starts with a 1 and I got my second choice a couple years back. Bid what you want and hope it works out.

Hopefully we will be in need of another one soon then because there have been a lot of new hires this year

The widebody bids will go senior for those wanting the 2nd+ year pay (especially if it coincides with the base they want.)

The lack of 220 in NYC makes this drop interesting.

SLC 220 is a wildcard and totally depends on who wants SLC. Probably not a lot of openings.

ATL 717 will go to whoever is die-hard ATL. Probably not a lot of openings.

I'd say most of the above are scooped up before 2xxx.

My guess is that what's left at 2xxx is LAX 73NB, LAX320B, and NYC73NB.

I'll be curious if what I said ends up being accurate.

What is the predicted AE schedule? May/June and then potentially August/September?
