New Hire Class Drops
#3581
It totally varies. Even if you don’t get your desired domicile in the initial drop, you can bid to change bases on the same equipment in an AE (Advance Entitlement) bid very early. I’d say a very good chance to switch bases on the same equipment quickly. Good luck.

Can I bid NYC7ER and after the year bid anything SLC and have it awarded?

If your goal is SLC, do not bid the ER. 73N, 320 or 220. Not sure which one gets you there fastest.

After that year is up you will have to wait for another AE to be published (could be quick, could be 6 months
After that AE is awarded the company has at least 210 (sometimes 365) days to train you*
The remainder of your seatlock (at time of AE award) will be added to your new seatlock.
*the AIP has changed to training language which I believe changes the length of time to train you.

but just a couple things. The 1 year left on your seat lock will carry over to your next fleet. So if you get awarded SLC320 in a year, you will have 3 year seat lock. Also, like I said this rule only applies to new hires. Essentially if the base you want is not on the fleet you got awarded as a new hire there is this 1 year relief. After that you cannot use this rule anymore.

Yes. If you bid NYCER, 1 year from your class date you will be free to bid off and into anything in SLC because ER is not in SLC (and won’t be again). So this strategy is a decent strategy especially if you aren’t moving for a year anyways.
