Newbie here trying to gain insight into a/c & base selections...I've learned a/c and base are awarded based on last-4 SSN, highest to lowest. Two questions: 1) any chance DL ever reverses allowing lowest-highest (or DOB like AA) for selection? 2) I have a low last-4 and if given a CJO/class date, likely going to be the plug...if I cannot secure an ATL domicile at Indoc, how low before I could transfer locations? Thanks!

1) No, never.

2) likely fairly quickly. We historically have had about 5 bids per year. And, the new contract is going to shorten the conversion window, which will mean bids will happen more often. It’s impossible to say, but it could be anywhere from almost immediately (if your timing is lucky) to 6 months or more. No guarantees, but likely to be fairly soon.

It has happened in the past year multiple times. It’s a bit of luck to get it, and things change quickly, so who knows going forward. Historically, LAX & SEA have not been new hire bases. There is a bid closing today, so very soon there will be a whole new list of open spots (NH spots can only go to unbid vacancies from the last bid). I would expect NYC to always have a ton of NH spots. However, there is a decent chance you can bid to SEA or LAX within your first year, possible even early in your first year.

Things are very fluid right now with the hiring pace, and Covid recovery. So it’s really hard to predict. Good luck.

I don't think there is any chance of them changing the way they assign seniority. Depending on the drop, it ultimately depends on when and if you can get back to ATL. Worst-case scenario, you can bid ATL on the first AE or if you get assigned something that is not in ATL, you can bid out after one year and bid into something in ATL.

320 or 737 are likely quickest to Seattle with A220 next in line.

You're likely to get Atlanta very quickly if not in not initial award.
