there is no BOS base for pilots, just FA’s. They aren’t planning on opening BOS for pilots

This would be a great question to ask at the end of the interview. That way you can file a grievance if they promise 1-2 years and you don’t get it.

I have an interview on 11/28. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but if I happen to get an offer, are most new hires being scheduled for class dates 3 months out?

I have a 12/05 class date with another carrier, but I'd really rather not go to one training only to immediately quit and go to another training. Have any new hires had luck in requesting an earlier class date?

I ended up in your exact situation. Had a class start date elsewhere and Delta called at the last second to schedule an interview the day of my other class starting. Took the interview, went well and have been unemployed waiting instead of going back to back with the first class. Wait time ended up being 13-14 weeks when we were told to expect 12. So no luck at all with moving dates forwards, rather the other way.

Anyways, good luck I’m sure you’ll make the right choice for you!

Exactly! I had a buddy with CJOs at Fedex and Delta. Delta offered class first but Fedex class was suppose to be within a month. Turned down Delta and was going to wait out for FedEx. The day after he turned down Delta he got an email from Fedex saying hiring has stopped for remainder of year. Now they are supposedly over staffed. Who knows when they will hire again. Always take the bird in the hand! He is definitely regretting his decision!

It's still crazy to me that there are people turning down legacy CJOs. There is a lesson to be learned here. Don't apply to places you do not want to go and don't burn any bridges. Your buddy could have easily differed the Delta class a month or so. There was no reason to turn down the job right away.

He wanted to go to Delta but wanted to go to FedEx more. He applied to places he wanted but got CJOs at different times. He should have just gone to Delta or deferred at the very least. He was not a 121 guy so I don’t think he was fully thinking about what might happen. Honestly I thought it was always a given to take the first class offered . He is in his 40s and was thinking he was behind the hiring wave at Delta and didn’t want to be at the bottom in case of a downturn. He was pretty happy at his current job so he was willing to wait for Fedex.

Telling of the times. Guys getting hired don’t know how good they have it. In reality, pre Covid, a lot of them probably wouldn’t have gotten a call

I believe the BOS base closed in 1998/1999 timeframe, so at least 25 years….
