Certainly not in this venue. If is possible to accept and appreciate opposing viewpoints if you sit down with someone and actually listen....and not try to win the discussion..

Maybe…but I would think this would only happen in a family setting where there is mutual respect for one another. I have not seen it happen anywhere else in a long time

I routinely have discussions about sensitive topics during trips either on long legs or over beers. As long as the other person makes an effort to see from your perspective, it's pleasant. When the other person starts using accusatory language, that's when it becomes unpleasant.

same here. Some of my most interesting trips have been with people with viewpoints I don’t agree with but could have a reasonable conversation about.

I’ve heard it called ‘empathy’. The completely normal and common self-regulation that humans do when they’re in one another’s presence.

For all the good the internet brought to our world it also shined a glaring light on how nasty we really are when there are few consequences to our words and deeds.

The new-used A350 order/buy sounds eerily similar to the LATAM deal that fell apart about a year ago.

very glad to hear that👍🏻 I think there is hope out there. My experience has been a little different having to redirect conversation as soon as I recognize the TV talking points. Next time I will see where it goes and report back!

Sadly, the political discourse nowadays isn't just left v right but it is also reality vs "alternate facts". You can't do much with the latter.

true! That’s also why conversation is so important. I’m usually more eye to eye on things than I’d expect from those who I disagree with.

And both sides are *sure* they know what is reality and the other is relying on “alternate facts.”

exactly! I would like to know where we could learn about this “reality”. Interestingly, who or what entity determines what is reality and “alternate facts”?

more importantly, is Thursday the rumored big announcement for 350s and 737s?
