I don't think the people that posted the rumor specified it would be announced today. The forum just speculated it would be in conjunction with investor day. In other words, there's still a chance.
Keep the rumors coming. They add spice to the politics and other crap we like to talk about.

Just to clarify:
We purchased an interest in LATAM at a premium. That included receiving several of their 350s. I'm assuming that was included in the premium pricing.
We pay Airbus to drop the 350 deliveries. At a premium.
We are now back to purchasing 350s that we had purchased, then paid to stop deliveries, now back on.
What a waste of money.

The 787 has better range capability compared to the A330. It’s actually a slightly smaller airframe that better fits the definition of a 767 replacement. The A330 is now a design dating back 35 years and has virtually no sales. Delta is probably the reason Airbus has not cancelled the program. Sticking with it as our main widebody airframe puts Delta in danger of operating a orphan aircraft.
Currently the A330-800 has 12 orders and it’s likely none of those will be delivered. The A330-900 has 260 orders with only half expected to actually be delivered. AirAsiaX and Iran Air have over 100 of those orders between them that will likely never be delivered. The program is in doubt. Airbus would probably be better off shutting it down and offering A350’s at a bargain price as replacements. It certainly does however fit with Delta’s love for orphaned airframes like the Convair 880, L1011 and MD11.

Adding on. The 787-900 is a much better airplane than anything in our fleet or on order. When it is properly assembled and delivered (both of which are not givens from South Carolina) it is a market beater by double-digit margins. A350 sales started off slow, but it is kind of like the guy who wants a Tesla, finds out the orders are backed up until Christmas and that it might arrive with a door gap someone could toss a cat through ... and drives home an ID4.
