Just to be clear, you got hired with less than the required “1000 Fixed wing Turbine” (not TPIC, which isn’t a requirement)?

Mea culpa, I did not RTFQ. I was thinking jet time. I had some turbo prop time that pushed me over 1000.

I did recently help another FO with his app that is now interviewing. I don’t know if he got the assessment prior to reaching 1000 hours turbine, but I do know that he submitted well before reaching 1000 hours and inside of one year ago. So he wasn’t put into a 1 year penalty box.

Anyone getting on with less than 3000 hours and no TPIC?

I flew with several FOs pre-COVID with zero TPIC.

No worries, it’s easy to skip a key word. I had to go back a reread a couple posts myself! Just want to make sure the most accurate info is out there for the prospective applicants.

A noble goal, and kindly stated! I’m excited to be here 😄

I went through INDOC in March. I had less than 100 121PIC and just barely under 3000 total time. I was invited to interview before I even upgraded at my regional.

No military flying. Only prior enlisted. I had a few internal recommendations.

Appreciate the input. I went ahead and put the app in. I'm a few hundred hours short on the 1000 turbine requirement but I will just update every week. Hopefully will show interest and not put me in the penalty box where I'll have to wait by doing so. Thank you for all the input and opinions. Good thread and advice.

If you do get the invite before you cross the 1000 turbine time requirement, please come back here and update the thread. Would be a good data point to have. Based on some expanded replies, I still don’t there there is a data point with getting the invite before reaching 1000 of turbine time.

If you are only a few hundred hours (and therefor a few months at 121/135 rates) away, I honestly don’t think it’s worth the risk of having to wait a year for another app review. Your call. Free advice is worth what you pay for it…

Could be worth reaching out to pilot recruitment on FB too. Previous posters have stated they are pretty responsive.
