Waiting another 6 months really sucks.

What worked for me: Decide which statement is MORE accurate at honestly describing you (even if it’s choosing between the lesser of two evils), and generally stick towards the middle with a lot more “slightly agree” than “strongly agree.” I looked at it as a “mostly agree” for one is also essentially a “mostly disagree” for the opposing statement. So if you’re going to answer “mostly” or “strongly,” then you better be OK with those qualifiers applying to your level of disagreement with the other side. I had way more “slightly agree” then the other options.

For the 8-12 months do you mean a class date for Endeavor or Delta? I have a class date with Endeavor in June. I already had an ATP, so I think that's why I did not have to wait as long.

I'm talking if you're a 9E pilot and get a cjo at delta off the street you have to wait almost a year after your delta cjo for a delta class date.

Well here's what I'm thinking, so let me know if it makes sense.

I'm on a military retirement which gives me a lot of options. If I go to Endeavor I should be able to fly the CRJ900 and be based out of Atlanta relatively quickly (within a couple of months), so I wouldn't be commuting since I currently live in Atlanta. There is no guarantee that I'd pass the 2nd attempt at the Delta Online Assessment, and there is no guarantee that I'd make it through the interview process. If I do get a Delta CJO and have to wait a year that doesn't sound too bad since I would not be commuting and have the military retirement on top of the Endeavor paycheck. On top of that I would not be metered by the other legacy airlines being at Endeavor.

NK is opening an ATL base and F9 already has one. If the reason you weren’t hired at DL was the usual - non-current because of flying a desk your last few years to finish up your 20 - an Airbus type and a few hundred hours of flying 200 pax around in an A321NEO would certainly be a superior resume booster than flying an RJ without the risk of you being placed in the regional feed (we need to keep them there) penalty box.

This is exactly it. If you can get F9 instead of coming to edv do that. That will set you up way better to get to delta than coming to edv. I'm at edv and have a b6 interview coming up. I'm leaving as soon as I can. Still looking at almost 3 years to flow. I believe working at a non regional with another type rating will boost my odds of going to delta sooner...or any of the legacies.

Ya DL recruitment is telling EDV pilots that come to events that they can’t touch them and won’t be considered for hire until at least Feb 23 at the earliest. On top of that 40+ pilots have already received CJOs to Delta and aren’t being told anything while Skywest and Republic pilots are being given projected training dates. If your goal is DL then EDV should be avoided. Also if your a current EDV pilot you’ll see the attrition numbers to DL but the 5 OTS are Propel Pilots. Good luck and try to avoid the trap that is the regionals.

You are exactly right. I've heard this too. Guess it works out in my favor as delta isn't my number one. Only came to edv for the pay and contract. Plus hindsight was smart since we didn't furlough anyone during covid.

I just don't get this line of thinking by the company. If they won't hire EDV pilots, do they really think said pilots are going to pass up offers from other majors? Of course not, they are going to take CJO's from UA, AA, WN, B6, F9, Etc, and EDV still loses that pilot. And if the other majors are doing the same thing (Blacklisting their own DCI carriers), everyone is simply poaching one another's regionals. Makes no sense.

Those pilots are going to leave for someone, it might as well be for their own 'parent'...

It is entirely possible that there is no solution, other than an extended recession which nobody wants.

You're right..but delta is counting on their brand to keep edv pilots at bay and wait for their flow. There was a pretty large chunk that took the money to stay. So really delta can just be like well you agreed to stay till your flow by taking the money so 🤷‍♂️. The ones that did have apps out to all those airlines you mentioned.

It really is stupid and short sighted. The only real way to keep wholly owned regional pilots around for their flow would be to make the mainline job so rewarding and appealing that they don’t want to go to the mainline competitors.

Instead we have metering of the wholly owned OTS hires and destruction of the mainline QOL, which are great incentives to stick around
