Sounds wrong just saying it out loud but to pass on the flow puts a non-military pilot’s chances of getting on AA slim to none. What would the wise folks out there on the interwebs do assuming I would be commuting for life?

I have no clue on the future prospects of the AA flow, but I'd probably wait. Living in base at AA's largest hub will afford you tons of opportunities career-wise. Plus you'll be home an incredibly larger amount of time at AA (if that's important to you). Think of sitting at home as a widebody FO on reserve barely getting used. Plus I'd assume most of the training you'd go through would be in Dallas as well? That beats the numerous months you'd spend away from home living on Virginia Ave in ATL throughout the course of your career.

Overall I'd say that AA offers you more money + more time at home + faster seniority progression. AA wins hands down, but the risk is something happens in the next 18 months that pushes back your flow.

Edit: And no hat.

I just received an invite for the online assessment. Can anyone shed some light on what to expect?

Not to pile on to be an a$$, but I’m piling on. Just read the thread. Yes there is some thread drift, but for Fucts sake, do some readying before asking everyone to do it for you.

Yikes. Tough crowd today. Unfortunately, almost no one currently on property has taken it. There's a link somewhere on this thread to a practice test that is supposedly pretty close. Good luck!

What difficulty on the CUT-E prep is similar to the actual? Thanks.

If I were doing it, I would do them all....but that's just me...."Leave no stone unturned" and all that. Maybe that is too old school....but then again I don't need a Delta job.

I think that is where barbs started flying in the first place....seems like "spoon fed" is the request du jour when applying for a multi-million dollar job.

Get the job and commute. If you’re good enough to get an invite from Delta, I assume AA wants you too. Once you are at Delta, apply to AA as an off the street hire. You may even get their sooner than the flow. Waiting for a flow in this business is like fighting for “career expectations.”

Pre Covid, AA really did not hire civilians outside of their flow. Not saying I disagree with your logic but in 2019 AA hired close to 1,000 pilots and like 50 guys/gals total were non mil/non WO pilots. I think our number when we were hiring that many was closer to 400.
