reliable source says they want to hire 2000 people in the next 12 months. Training is pushing back saying it’s not possible. If you make it to the interview, it is definitely yours to lose. Be chill, prep, admit your mistakes like an adult, and you’ll be a nyc FO in no time

I keep hearing the “it’s yours to lose if you get to the interview” but also see 11/14, 8/10, 9/12, etc. Anyone have any idea what’s holding back those 1-3 per interview group? I’m headed to the interview on the 30th and have been doing prep, but can’t help being anxious still.

There are always applicants who don’t prep, or think they can just get by with little prep. If you are grabbing all the info you can, have paid for interview prep, and such, you’ll probably be fine.

It’s easy to say, but go in relaxed, prepared, and professional, own your mistakes, and you’ll do great.

That’s about the attrition seen pre-Covid. Almost every interview group has a few that don’t make it.

From my interview in the ancient past, it was 5/8. Of the three that didn’t get a CJO, there was:

1. “Green suit guy”. (Look at me! I’m a special snowflake)

2. “Ten Minute or longer answer guy” (poor prep-Rambling Man..let them know how much fun I am…yeah!)

3. “Crazy guy” (didn’t treat the shrink part like the regular interview)

Professional level prep that costs time, money, and effort would’ve fixed these. Interviewing is a learnable skill. Pay a pro and learn how to hold it together for a couple of hours. We really don’t do a good job objectively evaluating ourselves.

When I interviewed (a decade ago) the interview prep was invaluable. It wasn't teaching me programmed answers to regurgitate - it was teaching me how to shape my experience and knowledge into a better answer. One that was more detailed and answered the question better. I highly, highly recommend paying for airline interview prep before a major airline interview.

We had a guy that was a regional guy that said he was a CA at _______ so he had pretty much arrived and it was time for DAL when they asked why DAL. The HR panel took issue with that.

the best advice I have is practice your answers out loud 69 times a day. Think of it like a memory item. When **** hits the fan you fall back on what you’ve chairflown. Practice practice practice your answers
