Have you seen some of the shoes out there? There is policy, and then there is what virtually everyone does…

I’m not claiming to always wear approved vendor clothing, but if we’re talking about company paid dry cleaning, machine washable Haggar pants won’t help us get there,

I think RAH pilots have a very good uniform allowance policy, IIRC they get, each year, fully company paid
4x shirts
2x pants
1x hat
$150 for shoes

additionally they get a jacket and suitcase at regular intervals (I think 2 or 3 years) and ties and epaulettes as well.

if someone knows better than me please chime in.

Pretty close, during initial we get:

2 pairs of uniform pants, 4 shirts (short sleeve, long sleeve, or combination thereof), tie, hat, blazer, overcoat, pullover sweater, two sets of wings, hat badge, 2 pairs of epaulettes, flight crew safety vest, roll-aboard style bag (LuggageWorks ‘‘Stealth’’ bag or similar); and choice of: tote bag, rolling tote bag, lunch cooler, laptop bag, EFB bag; similar approved Company item

Every year thereafter: 2 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, 1 pair of shoes ($140), 1 tie, luggage parts if needed; choice of: blazer, overcoat, or any two of the following items: tote bag, rolling tote bag, lunch cooler, laptop bag, EFB bag, One sweater.

New roll-aboard every 4 years.

thank you for the update/correction. I think this is what we should be shooting for.

The uniform is broken when the first thing your’re told as a new hire is to get Haagar pants or go to Kohls. Not only are we the cousin at a wedding wearing a short sleeve and a tie, but also the mis-matched jacket/pants combo. If all else fails, I hope we at least get a uniform centennial pin.

Long sleeve guys have always been weirdos. Enough of this “short sleeves and ties aren’t proper business wear”. We aren’t businessmen.

I like where you're going with this GF, could be some potential, the kompany throwing some $$ at our uniforms - what do they do with the FAs uniforms?

Yup. Haagars and Cut above. Work good, last long time.

Yeah long sleeve guys, jury is still out with me. Speaking for myself, I have to wear something to cover me as I have some skin cancer issues I need to deal with. So I use the slip on Adidas sun protection sleeves (SPF 50 protection) on my arms when I fly. I just slide them on. Work great. That way I don't wear the long sleeve shirt as I find them pretty uncomfortable. The Adidas sleeves work good and I can take them off whenever I need to versus the long sleeve shirt

I wasn't advocating for paid dry cleaning because I just don't see it as that much of a benefit. However, I do see your point about our "required" uniforms items are dry-clean only.

Or they've had skin cancer. Flown with a few guys who've had to wear long sleeves for that reason.

IDK what the FAs get. Another data point in addition to RAH ‘s benefit posted above was at OO I got $100 every 6 months to spent at crew outfitters or M&H. In general I think we should be trying to get DL to cover as many of the expenses that we incur from working for DL. (Like uniforms and maybe dry cleaning like what was mentioned with UAL)

never been a fan of long sleeves myself but given the skin cancer risk have been looking for alternatives, I’ll have to try the sun sleeves.
