This would be more appropriate messaging:

No one wants a tired pilot. And this puts blame for operational disruptions past and future on the company.

Mgmt will come out and make us look like spoiled brats. They will say all scheduling is done under the format set forth by the FAA and the same guidelines other airlines fly. They will say pilots are in contract negotiations and picketing is normal in this situation. They will also say fatigue calls haven't really gone up and doesn't appear to be a problem.

Management will have an out of context reply???? No way! I thought for sure after months on fighting our union on this, picketing would make them capitulate.

This stuff doesn't happen overnight

Management might TRY to create that perception. Is that the same FAA who certified the Max? Anyone who is paying attention or who just watched Downfall on Netflix isn’t going to buy those arguments. I was pleased with the public’s response to picketing.

Yes.......

Edit: I don't believe we're in a war against GS, but I certainly would love to get back to the days where guys felt lucky to even get the occasional GS. Certainly don't care for running the operation on greenslips.

Isn’t that what an IA is? I know you don’t have to answer the IA call, but that’s what IA is…

I’m not sure this is the message we wanted to push. Leave the words “green slips” out of it. We are being “asked” to fly more overtime on top of an already fatiguing schedule. My 2 cents (plus all my union dues).

One argument that will resonate with the public is that wages have stagnated as inflation and energy prices have soared.

This avoids some of the “those overpaid pilots” comments, because actual salaries aren’t mentioned.

Everyone outside of government COLA salaries is feeling the pinch. Nobody’s raises are coming close to keeping up with inflation.

From a strategic standpoint, if the whole pilot group ignored ARCOS for GS, they will start tagging pilots in the jetway. They will fill rotations with contractually compliant methods - it’s really just a choice of whether it IS a choice (GS), or not (IA).

And we don’t have the aft stairs to escape the jetway anymore.

717 is gonna be the senior NB quickly if that happens.
