You are paid block time in this month for the part of the trip in this month; you are paid block you did in month 2, plus any credit from the total trip in month 2. (It will pay double pay in each month assuming you are above the GS threshold. If you are below the threshold, it pays single pay only in the month(s) you are below the threshold.)

How will the rest periods work for the crossing … can the Capt who is receiving training be in the seat while the LCA takes their rest break? What if the LCA is to give an FO OE?

Thanks!

I’ve only been involved in two separate OE trips, but on both we flew as a 4 person crew, regardless of the time involved(both were FO OE). The trainee can only sit in the seat if the LCA is in the other seat, So they’ll both go rest at the same time. Once was a scheduled 4 person crew, so we divided up rest breaks normally. 2nd time was supposed to be a 3 person crew, but we flew with 4. We just split the rest into 2 blocks, 2 people rested each time.

So the moral of the story, FO OE, you’re not getting bought off. I think Capt OE is the same, but not positive if they were previously FO qualed?

The biggest driver is whether or not the student has 767 landings or not. If they are doing the short upgrade there is a possibility of being released since they would already have the required landing to be up there without a LCA. However, with the new way of doing TOE a student will only get one crossing (one leg each direction) instead of the 2 crossings previously. Because of this most LCA are keeping all pilots in order to maximize the time with student and to try and cover everything that used to be done with two crossings.

NIce explanation. Just to fine tune it a smidge, any credit associated with ADG or Trip Rig (1:3.5) credit is paid out at the end of the trip (Month 2) but any Deadhead credit or Duty Rig (1:2) credit is paid on the day you earn it so that credit might be paid in Month 1, depending on the rotation.

So I somehow have two trips on the same day - yes I am that good. One finishes around 7-8am and the next goes back out that night at 9 or 10pm. Legal too!

Are there any creative ways out of that? Like swapping into a different trip that finishes later to conflict out the later trip or something (not allowed I'm sure)? I'm grasping at straws here I know.

That seems fatiguing, you can always evlauate your fitness for duty prior to sign in and make the call to the duty pilot if you're not fit.

Can a single IVD be used on that day thus dropping both trips?!

maybe

if I remember correctly, and IVD (and APD) can be used to drop either a single rotation of any length, or two rotations of not more than 4 days

Thanks, another tool I can try if swapping doesn't work.
