I’ve never received a GFB call. What do you need to do if you get one?

that’s fine, but I’m willing to bet there’s multiple variables. I’d be interested in some regression analysis though

Then there are the pilots who verify the GFB request and stay out sick for another trip or two, longer than they otherwise would. The whole occurrence is verified at that point and doesn’t count toward the trigger. It’s not a well-planned deterrent on the company’s part.

That's an assumtion of abuse. We are our own worst enemy.

I’m not speculating on levels of sick leave abuse. I’m simply saying that if the company’s contention regarding sick leave abuse is valid (which is questionable to some degree), then GFB has the potential to make it worse.

You answer the phone or call back to discuss your illness. They either accept your explanation, and you go about being sick at home, or they don’t accept it and you take your sickness to the doctor to get a doctor’s note that says they saw you and you were indeed sick, which you submit to the CP while carrying on being sick at home.

So for the GFBs that need a note, or if you have to verify, is there a time limit to submit? What if you just don’t bring a note to school? Or just sit on it? Are you not allowed to come back to work?

Call in well when you are well. But if you don't produce the verification, I think you won't be pay protected for the trip for which you called in sick.

With discipline attached (usually). There’s an absolute double standard between the consequences of the company violating the PWA vs. pilots violating the PWA.
