Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2
#7352
"Everybody" isn't. Walk through a Delta hub or outstation and 99% of pilots wear the seasonal uniform properly.
The few pilots walking around dragging their pilot suitcases and flight bags with a black North Face jacket on and a hat getting smashed in their bag to "stick it to the man" are a minority.
But the "great uniform debate" is a recurring theme on APC. Like "commuting is a choice".
Or a car that shall not be named.

MEX, HNL, SXM all winter. And a bit of luck not getting trips off short call.

Exactly.
The anti-beard crowd = the same dudes with cell phone holsters walking around on layover in oversized cargoshorts and white NB sneakers. The guys wearing a horse blanket 3 sizes too big with square-toe slip on shoes. The dudes that have the same hat from their initial capt upgrade in 1997.
You don't need a beard to look like a slob; Many of our pilots have mastered this art while remaining clean shaven.
Everywhere else in the world has embraced the idea that you can look professional with a beard. Just get over it and join the 21st century.

It'll be like the moustache mafia group, a bunch of guys trying their hardest to "look like a pilot" because they feel imposter syndrome. Pass.

Because its not warm enough to be comfortable outside below 45 or so, isn't a water resistant layer, and the same jacket that is not warm enough waiting on skyhop in MSP is also too hot to comfortably walk in T4 at JFK where it's 78.
I could get behind a change to "if you need a coat, here are the allowed choices if in uniform"
But the Hey, it's between arbitrary dates. Please wear a wool coat in PHX or SAT when it's still 90 out, that's the illogical stuff I could do without.
We kind of address it with the Latin America, Caribbean and Africa plus select tropical destinations carveout we have already.

I haven’t tried, and it’s a very narrow set of circumstances, but if you have week 52/53 with days in April, wouldn’t you be able to use those in march as IVDs? Those days belong to the “march” year and are unawarded until April schedules are loaded.
