In Feb, all of your original vacation days will remain but their value for pay purposes will be reduced by 21 hours for this example.
Something to consider when pulling the value of the vacation week(s) out without moving the vacation days themselves, bidding and trip pickups will be affected in the month in which the vacation days lie, just as if those vacation days had value.

I swap the bank usage. VACB to cover APDs etc. because pay and credit applies so no 5 hour limit for GSs. Then bank credit over 80 in the full service bank to cover the vacation hours shortage later in JAN and FEB when GS are not likely.

Giving this a try for this month- what’s the magic words when calling crew Scheds to do this? Trip already dropped, called & even explained it usually requires a supervisor, they put me on hold for a bit and then came back and told me I had to contact crew resources to accomplish. I suspect not correct.

I always tell them that I want to apply VACB to the dropped day. Unfortunately most of our schedulers are clueless as to what that is, let alone the rest of the PWA. Call back and try again would be my guess.

Not correct, document who you called and spoke with and the date and time. Try one more time and if no joy call pilot support.

Scheduling supervisor is the only one I have ever had do it right. Many schedulers will try to give you the IVD daily credit, which is not what you are requesting. 23.I.18.a. is the PWA reference. I think the company really prefers we not know about this PWA provision. You are entitled to use the vacation bank in this manner, don't take no for an answer. They must honor the pilot request to use VACB.

Be sure to complete it before the end of the month to the satisfaction of the PWA provision. Correcting a time card after it has closed is a huge PITA and the audit and correction can take awhile and perhaps more than one attempt which will result in a pay delay.

So what will your line look like in month that you took the vacation from? Say the ALV is 72 in Feb for example, and you pulled 21 hours of pay from your vacation bank. I'm guessing PBS will award you a line with the week of vacation still on it, but there is no pay, so your month of pay would be 21 hours less. So say, you would have had a 72 hour line, but now it's just worth 51? Is your credit also 51?

Yes, that's why i bid reserve during that month and hopefully have training or some other credit. I also bank 20 hours or everything that exceeds 80 in all the other months. I use that time to buy additional vacation for the following year and pay myself during short months. My month is always 75-80 unless I'm working GSs etc.

Just completed the strategy this month. Can confirm a supervisor must put VACB code on your time card. I wasn’t able to specify which vacation week the pay/credit was pulled from. You can put VACB on top of an APD/PD/QPD but not IVD since there is already pay and credit associated with that.
