Light and UV rays =/= cosmic radiation. Kinder fluff stops light. Kinder fluff does not stop cosmic radiation. Pilots aren’t considered high exposure radiation workers because of how much sun we see…

About as succinct as you can put it lol. That said, the kinder fluff screens aren't nothing as putting anything between you and the light helps somewhat. I also don't think people who wear long sleeves are weird (even the ones with tats lol), though I don't wear them myself. I do wear a hat, which I know makes some people roll their eyes. I figure I expose my body to enough crap that will harm me, might as well do a little something where I can lol.

A little teaser.

Try to reduce your time working on very long flights, flights at high latitudes, or flights which fly over the poles.

A couple of thoughts here....thanks to the Russians (and them closing their airspace down), we are probably exposing ourselves to much much less cosmic radiation by not flying so far north towards the pole on the 350. On the other hand, there is something called radiation hormesis, which is the scientific concept that small amounts of ionizing radiation are actually beneficial for a mammal/primate. The radiation actually helps activate cellular repair mechanisms.

Also, while the kinderfluff is not a bad product, I personally prefer the "blue drapes" solution. I mean what else are we going to use those things for, right?

1. I am pretty sure the comment was tongue and cheek.
2. Regardless of radiation, they help with sun, and considering I’ve had more than one spot cut out over the years, every bit helps.

for what it’s worth, radiation hormesis is very much an unproven hypothesis

White shirts do not block UV rays

depends on the material content and weave. But even basic cotton offers at least some UV protection (UPFs of ~5-8). Polyester and poly blend usually drive that upward.

at least that’s what my Internet research leads me to believe being a serious skin cancer risk type

Sure it does, though a significant amount less than darker colors, but it's not nothing. It's certainly better than not wearing a long sleeve shirt. The material matters big time as well.
