Nobody reads ‘Flying the Line’ I or II anymore. It’s a shame.

There is even a podcast where you can listen to it, like a book on tape.

Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.

You can’t cover the flying because that is struck work.

It even has a picture of Dr Phil in it! To be fair to those who haven’t, it isn’t the easiest or most exciting read.

You do know how her fight with the company turned out don't you?
I do. There were NO "good guys" here--not her, certainly not the company, who screwed up royally as well. I have no sympathy for them.

the things I have seen starting with Ambrosi make me want to throw up
What kind of things? I try to give every MEC administration the benefit of the doubt, including JA's. I am not aware of anything distasteful, but I'll admit I deliberately stay away from daily emails to my reps.

Have you even read her letter?
Of course I have. Especially the "gems" like:

- arbitrators have been "purchased" by management
- the company uses the HIMS program to "terrorize" pilots (funny, I've only read good things about how it has "saved lives" in any other communique about the program, which I am thankful I am not fully aware of the particulars)
- ALPA leaders "look the other way"
- ALPA leaders "stab the members in the back" in order to crawl into mgmt positions
- ALPA leadership is a bunch of "puppets" who smile, tell us what we want to hear, then do the opposite
- pilots aspiring to be MEC Chair do so so that they can work their way into a mgmt job
- dues are excessively high (okay I agree there)

I just don't see a collective MEC rallying around her

The best part about it is how she will hold the reps accountable in the voting. And at least she has written a letter to us. Where are the other candidates' letters? (Hint: they don't need them because it is all in the bag already). The good ole boys club lives on.
It's possible that if she is elected (unlikely) that perhaps she becomes an exceptional chair. Sort of how sometimes little-known college football players become NFL Hall of Famers. But those cases are the exception. But if this proves out, I'll eat crow.

That would be considered struck work. Highly unlikely the company would even want that outcome. They would likely fly a reduced schedule where it made sense with no mainline operation.

With our incoming MEC chairman we will never have to worry about going on strike. He didn’t even want the strike vote to be taken. You can forget about anybody “throwing rocks” at the company. It’s sad to me that the LEC has chosen the path of proactive engagement but they are a political organization and deals have been made.

Who’s our incoming chairman? Didn’t know they had already voted.

Pilot's aren't supposed to cross other pilot's strike lines.
