Just to be clear. We already have PSC. You just have to attempt to commute on a prior flight.

just to be clear, we do not have PSC FROM WORK, which for most people is of more importance than getting to work.

Example: my next rotation reports 15:55. Primary departs 6:15AM. Backup 13:00. I wakeup 12hrs prior to report. Come in day prior you say? I leave home 22hrs prior to report, spend $100, checkout at 11 or 12, and sit in airport 4-5 hours prior to report.

With PSC. Leave a 1300. Wait for 1.5 hours.

Improvements to reroute language, deadhead language, crew meals, you name it..peanuts compared to the QOL improvements of PSC in LOA 20-04.

Bid early sign in which means early release normally, commute in the night before, have more chances to get home vs last flight of the night, less stress, you are not “A day”commuter tired. Sure your out $60-$70 for a hotel room but that is the price for being a commuter voluntary or non voluntary. Grab one G/S and hotel cost are covered.

And your going home is not more important than my going home whether I'm working or not. There is a much better argument for PSC for going to work.

Strictly talking ATL only, not sure of hotels at other bases…..Ramada Plaza, Travelodge Wyndham, Days Inn Wyndham, Comfort Inn Suites, Clarion all near ATL. That was just looking on Hotel.com. I’m sure you can get a better crew rate. Now if those hotels are beneath you, you might have to go higher. But spending $100+ for 10-12 hours is a waste in my book.

When it was all 88’s from my commute airport they routinely broke. At least 4 times in 2 years my primary went TU. I made the call and got PSC on the backup. A couple times in was full and somebody got bumped. Never got a call.
I’ve mentioned this before. I would GLADLY trade my travel “benefits” for PSC if given the option. I’m about the be a 3 digit pilot here, so it seems that trade would benefit others.
Also there seems to be an unwritten LOA that when the GS are flowing you can get a PSC commute to work. I’ve even spoken to scheduling and said “gee, I’d love to but……” Miraculously I got a seat. Supply and demand I guess.

Ah, ATL. Not happening in NYC.

To the company this is the least important. They could care less if we get home after they are done using us.

Copy so you are more important regardless. Easy enough. You mind posting your employee number so I can add you to my DNF with list? You sound amazing.

The fact you are so against making the QoL better for commuters is astounding. If PSC is a thing already why don’t we just make it easier? Get rid of the first flight and now we have more rested and more capable pilots.

And back to the point of this post, it’s about where I believe the union should fight. We have medical, just not the greatest. We have a commuting policy, just not the greatest. I want the union to fight for a better commuting policy, especially for the back half (getting home). You see things your way, I see them mine.

Your medical coverage improving isn’t more important than me getting home to my family.
