I agree with you, taking a GS on reserve is only fun cause I either get immediate days off in return (plus the boost in pay) or PB days to spend. I think reserve GS acceptance will go way down if it's just "work more for straight pay"

Ok. Just did. In order to use PB days with negative RES coverage you must use APD/IVD's. Is there some trick I'm unaware of?

"Insufficient reserve coverage for a normal PD over the days of a rotation or reserve on-call days you are trying to drop will keep you from being awarded a Payback Day drop request. To circumvent this, you may use your Authorized Personal Drop (APD) or one of your Individual Vacation Day (IVD) events to drop rotation(s) or on-call day(s)."

UAL may be very close to a contract. Management made significant movement on work rules and moved a 5% raise due late Spring to next month.

Same here. Under the current system, I will use GS PB days to improve my schedule.

I know in April I picked up some turdburglar rotations on GS to get PB days where I could go to the Atlanta Supercross and the Foxboro Supercross.

Did the same to go to some more races this summer. .

My understanding is that UAL management still refuses to respond to UALPA’s financial proposal despite the movement on the work rules and 5%.

Seems to me they’re in a “let’s see what Delta gets” holding pattern.

These work rule improvements include:
• Reversing Pre-10 a.m. reserve report
• Eliminated changes to the LPA
• Reverted to current untriggered reassignment order for
lineholders
• Eliminated hiring of retired United Pilots as pilot
instructors
• Removed adjustment to the CRJ-550 maximum takeoff
weight
Second, while work is not complete, United and ALPA
agreed on improvements to Line Check Airman, Instructor
and Evaluator scheduling and pay.
Third, for weeks now, we have been working with ALPA on
a range of other quality of work life issues which will
benefit every United pilot, both line-holder and reserve. I
am pleased to report that we are very close to reaching an
agreement on these items.
These improvements - plus our ongoing commitment to
industry-leading pay - are the right thing to do and the
foundation for the next tentative agreement.

Retracting a failed idea from a TA that was shotdown by 94% is not a work rule improvement.

If coverage is bad, you can still use PB days if a pilot takes your trip as a Q trip.

Yes there are ways around that. How do you think these guys are able to use 20 or 30 pb days when the month is all black.

Betting that $4-5k per pilot isn’t going to move the barometer too much.
