All this talk about PB days, one thing is for sure, the pilot group overall has a price and if that price is met PB days will be gone like the wind.

Endeavor got a payraise everyone quickly forgot about QOL and folks starting stating they are here for the pay

If we get 200% Holiday pay it will take an incredible amount of seniority to fly on Holidays. Talk will shift to "how long does it take to hold Holidays On"

If LCP pay increases to $420+/hr like at the regionals the application line will be wrapped around the building again

History has proven over and over again that money talks.

Which is exactly why QOL needs to be priority 1. QOL isn't eroded over time by inflation and the RLA.

If anyone ever wants this air line to be properly staffed - or all the qol goodness that brings with proper staffing - operating undermanned should be prohibitively expensive. Don’t let your greedy current selves steal from your wise future selves that will eventually come to appreciate time off, family and friends.

100% agree with this stance. At the end of the day, I don't want to work to live.

This thread has helped me understand PB days and how pilots are utilizing them a lot better. I can see why the company would be targeting them in negotiations. It’s a section of the contract I have never utilized, but I now see the value of PB days even for me. I can now see altering the reserve GS system will cause a No vote from me.

While this thread might look like negotiating in public it has helped me determine the value of a contract section I’ve never used, but have unknowingly benefitted from. Sometimes having a discussion of the sections various pilots hold dear is very important.
Prior to learning more about PB days, I would have viewed them as fairly inconsequential. Now I see any alternation as a poison pill in the contract.

For sure. That price...

- 12 days/month on call for reserve. Every month, not this 30/31 day month or extra x-day BS.
- No limit on number of off-day blocks.
- Min of 2 days on call per block.
- GS on off day pay 2x on top of guarantee.
- Reserve coverage limits that mirror line holders.
- Get rid of the golden day concept...every day off is golden day.
- Extensions into off days are payed at 2x pay on top of guarantee (no matter the reason). My days off are my time, not theirs.
- No flying of trips that would put you over Reserve guarantee.
- 1 hour of pay on top of guarantee for any short call.
- A reserve availability list that is actually accurate.

I think I can speak for the entire pilot group when I say, I hope this happens. I'm quite certain there are tons of pilots out there who would be elated to see people gobbling up all the holiday flying. I'm also certain that these same people wouldn't be opining about not getting holiday flying. It's truly a win-win.

Money per day I put on a uniform is what really talks. While that includes pay rates, it also heavily relies on other work rules. Pay rates are flashy because they're easy to quantify.

My goal is to be at home A LOT, and have a stress free commute into work only when I need to. So far, it hasn’t been too bad as a commuter. Is there any union ask in negotiations to make this even better? Any specific highlights as to what is being asked of big D as it relates to the lazy man’s gameplan?

Ahhh grasshopper how do you define the perfect QOL for 15,000 people? And I might add, QOL doesn't end when you stop working at DAL. You have to fund that retirement QOL too.

You can get both of those. No concessions.
