Yes, very similar. If I recall, the term used by the mediator during TA2 was "Super-mediation". Once they were VERY close, the mediator cut off both sides from contacting anyone on the outside. NC could not talk to the MEC, and company negotiators could not talk to management. We're talking the last 24 hours of negotiating prior to an AIP being reached. It's been six years, so my memory may be a little fuzzy.

Spondivits would be a great lunch spot.

EDIT: Wolf beat me to it.

All the pieces are in place. I am optimistic we will have an AIP soon.

Exactly. The NC on both sides are given guardrails. Only GH or Ed and the MEC have the authority to negotiate outside of those parameters. I guarantee you their negotiating committee doesn't get the authority to give us anywhere near our ask. The MEC needs to be there to give our negotiating committee authority as well. It helps when all the players are in the same hotel and can easily get ahold of their boss versus wait for them to answer an email..

This right here!

Very easy to tell what the mediator thinks.

Continuing to think about all this, one other option comes to mind: We don’t get an AIP next week, but we have another week scheduled soon thereafter.

That could actually signal we are very, very close, but the NC is holding out for a slightly better close out proposal from the company. If that were the case, we’d likely hear very little from the NC/MEC.

I won’t be surprised if we get an AIP next week though.

The setup is absolutely there for an AIP. But the company has to be willing to pay the price, and the MEC needs to be willing to say yes if given a deal that polling says is ratifiable.

And there's the rub......

This kind of trial balloon never works. You are a company shill and are undermining our negotiating committee. Please take your lowball rumors back to management with a little more thought on how they can improve QOL.

Do you see my profile pic? I’m a company shill working from SWA. Ummm k.

I think 18/5/5/5 is crap by the way. But I was wanting clarification for the yessies on our association site.
