From what I've heard, he was pushing back because he wanted to wait until after the next negotiating session because, based on reluctant participation in the Lanyard and Hat campaign, he was worried he'd blow our one shot. He still voted for it.
And what's most sad is that conversation was leaked from closed session by one of the other councils. We need people in the room who aren't afraid to share their opinion without fear that it might be leaked and used against them. I don't want group think in the MEC.

We need leaders who aren't afraid to express contrary opinions without having to worry about babies on the MEC leaking misrepresentations of what was said. All that matters is that it was unanimous. It's irrelevant if some were hesitant that it was too soon or that we might not get the result we want. What you want is all descenters to be silenced and bow to the leakiest of LEC reps.

If he is out after the first of the year, he MUST be replaced.

Just following the lead of the National ALPA president...
This! Do line pilots on LTD even get to vote on union stuff? I know I couldn't vote on the last contract because I was deployed. Depending on when the next TA drops, I won't get to vote because I will be deployed again. Never mind the fact that it has a HUGE impact on my life and I'll be back on active status again within a few months. If this guy can serve in a union position AND get a "promotion," then I should be able to vote while out on MLOA.

We are experiencing the 'rules for thee and not for me' at the local level aren't we?

It doesn’t sound like the new guy is really a Delta pilot anyway so just use your imagination on how we would do it. We could probably save some of our dues money too.

I'm not really saying that. But it certainly doesn't seem so important to have on e that is actually active and qualified, so why not explore the potential of actually finding one with some guts to go up against the company? Perhaps one of the Teamsters bubbas? I am loathe to see much motivation from a guy that isn't dependent on actually operating a Delta airplane for his paycheck
