I’m sure people did that, but why would your average non commuter do that on vacation with their family? There should be a travel benefit for all pilots, including the ones who live in base.

This. Delta wants us to be the highest paid pilots. We have a base rate, take the highest RJ rate + bonus in the industry and set our RJ rates in our pay scale on that and work up. Done. Real simple. Meets pilot expectations and holds Delta to their word. And we know they can afford it because they are already paying it.
