They will then pickup anything Tricare does not. If Tricare pays, Selman pays. It’s simple, and almost foolproof (as long as your doctor remembers to bill both), but at almost $1600 annually (plus the deductible), you’ll likely pay almost $2000 out of pocket before Selman starts paying anything. I’ve done it for at least 5 years, and have yet to recoup my initial premiums/deductible. For the vast majority, I think there are few circumstances where it makes sense. Especially since the catastrophic cap for Tricare is about $4,000, you will never pay more than that annually out of pocket. I’m not sure any delta plan’s premiums are even that low, much less the deductibles.

That said, there are other Tricare supplemental plans, MOAA, TROA, ROA, etc. I’d bet they act similarly, but the premiums are less, meaning it may tip the scales. DYODD.

If you are Tricare eligible for all of 2024, I would recommend not selecting any medical plan at all through Delta, except the supplement if you wish. I would 100% select DPMP dental, at $8/month (administered by the other “Delta”, Delta Dental) crazy good deal. I think the Vision is a good plan also, and use Delta’s plan for my wife and I (empty nesters). The benefits are solid, including a free pair of specs annually, if I remember right. Also a contact allowance.

My brother who retired can't say enough good things about TRICARE comparatively to other insurance. I'm glad you guys and gals that served get that benefit, I'm not happy you haave to pay for it though. If you put in your time to retirement serving our country, that should be taken care of, oh well spilt milk now. My chief concern going into retirement is a Med care supplemental. I'm not going to use any of Delta's stuff (I don't think I can other than DPMP) rather I'm shopping now for other insurance. I won't begin to tell you what a nightmare that is. Appreciate that HK. It's hard to complain about having to pay a small amount toward health care once you see how much non-military pay for theirs.

After a quick comparison of premiums, coverage, copays, plan administrators, etc, the Delta Pilot plans look identical to the company plans. Is there any meaningful difference between Gold HSA and the Delta Pilots High Deductible Health Plan? What about the Copay Option vs the DPMP?

Per the PWA, the DP-HDHP is supposed to exactly mirror the Gold HSA, including the amount of Delta dollars you can earn. Having the Gold HSA codified in the PWA as the DP-HDHP protects it from company manipulation in the middle of the plan year, like they did by adding the unvaxxed surcharges around 2021-2022. Now with the DP-HDHP the company cannot do that. Plus, if you have any issues that arise over your coverage I think there is some ALPA assistance that can be brought in to help with PWA plans, whereas with non-PWA company plans you are on your own.

One of the bigger things with DPMP (non HSA) vs HSA is there is only one out of pocket deductible/max.

Non DPMP (not sure on HD-DPMP) you have two separate in and out of network deductible pools.

That is one of the biggest reason to go with the DPMP - if you are in an area that has few/no in-network providers, or you are under the care of a specialist who is out of network. There is also always a risk that during the plan year your in network provider suddenly becomes out of network. If you are on the DP-HDHP or other HSA that would almost certainly necessitate a change of providers. On the DPMP not a thing changes for you.

Hey everyone,

I'm awaiting a class date currently and I'm trying to get some legitimate information on the Progeny IVF Program offered under the companies health insurance plan. Everyone involved with the program or the company can't give me any information as I don't yet have an employee ID number. I'm looking for specific coverage numbers so if any of you have used the program I'd sure appreciate anything you're willing to pass along.
