Hi yall, coming from the military so I'm not super smart on this. How is health insurance through Delta? Do you have a number or choices for plans and insurance providers?

3 levels of high deductible plans and one contractual option. Delta is self pay so United Healthcare or UMR, whoever the new flavor of the day is just manages it. The high deductible plans come with an HSA, the latter does not and has higher premiums but has better coverage for power users. I had better coverage at both my regionals. Very sloppy and an absolute PITA if everything doesn't go perfect. I'm civilian, but if you can hang on to tricare then count that as a major win.

Do whatever you can to keep Tricare. Even Tricare reserve is much better than the DAL options.

I retired from the reseves end of 2021.
I'm currently $15k in outstandingl bills probably going to collections that UHC/UMR either paid then unpaid, or refused to pay, and I've paid $5000 and counting for a covered drug that UMR is refusing to cover for my wife (diabetes drug but she's not diabetic but can't control blood sugar due to a brain tumor) because she's not diabetic.

$1200 a month out of pocket every month.

Or my wife may end up in a diabetic coma.

Delta's Healthcare sucks.

I had my shoulder reconstructed after a dirtbike crash. UMR is still refusinrefusipay my anesthesiologist. Because I was supposed to have a shoulder broken in six places ixed with just a local anesthetic. After waiting a month to get surgery approved.

I'm probably going on Tricare gray area retiree, because $1300 a month is cheaper than this crap all in.

I’ll second what has been said about staying on TRICARE, if you can. I retired, took Standard and a MOAA supplement, never looked back. Retired can’t participate in the HSA plans, it’s too good of a deal, IRS won’t allow it. It’s just frustrating that we bring our own insurance to the table at Delta and can’t participate in the savings that we bring to the company. We all go to Medicare when we hit 65, then the real fun starts. TRICARE becomes a secondary insurance.

Harrumph! First world problem for sure, but I have long advocated for Mil retirees to get the “Tricare Supplement” paid by the company. They would still be saving well over 69% on us vs a non-mil employee (vs. the 100% they save now).

Many corporations give a stipend to those who do not participate in the employer medical. Delta is not one of them.

Only way it would be fixed, in my opinion…

everyone gets into DPMP and we demand better coverage. But since pilots loveeeeee the bronze HSA, because it’s cheaper and I can save extra for retirement, nothing will change.

Point taken but just to keep us all on the same sheet of music there is no longer a bronze option. Gold and Silver now. So I guess you could say silver is the new bronze for those that want the HSA savings account and min premiums (accepting higher max out of pocket.)

I’m on Gold for now, but will seriously consider moving to DPMP next year given the lower premiums in the TA.

DPMP dental should be a no brainer for everyone with better coverage and lower premiums.

You’re right, there’s no more bronze. My bad, I forgot they got rid of it and added the copayment plan.
