Is there a bidding strategy to take advantage of having a carry-in pairing at the beginning of the month? I can't remember if it's a reserve or a reg line bidding strategy, but I thought someone described a technique to get some benefit from having a few days carried in.
Example: 6-day trip at the end of March with 5 days carrying into April. When bidding for April you should try to...

I do it sometimes sniping a trip at the end of the month, especially when I need some time off soon after. That was I have credit for the next month already and on days I know I’m ok with working.
Pro tip. If you can find a trip with lots of credit or an easy/short first day, the credit pays on the next month. For example, 2 hr 1 leg day 1, the rest of the trip pays in the next month and the 2 hours on the month the trip started in.
There’s also a way to do it after the bid closes and use one this month to overlap and drop a trip for the next month.

From Sched Ref Handbook: An asterisk rotation is subject to change or removal from your line upon the publication of the following month’s bid package. It can be extended by only a single day, reduced, altered in some other way in either or both bid periods, or canceled altogether. Once altered, the new rotation is referred to as a transition pairing and carries full rotation guarantee just as any other rotation. Asterisk rotation changes are posted before 1800E on the 4th.
