As long as a minimum of the total value of the trip is paid out to someone(s). No discounts for inept/negligent/deceitful non-contractually compliant actions.

You are owed $100. #1 you didn't know you were owed $100, #2 you were never going to be told you were owed $100, and #3 someone, through trying to get that $100 themselves, got you paid the $100. You woudn't be happy if instead of getting the full $100, you were only paid $90? The same money that, once again, you didn't know and weren't going to know you were owed?

What if, by giving that $10 to someone, more people started looking for $100 bills that people were owed? All the sudden there are now $300, $400, or $20,000 found that you were owed, but sadly you only got $270, $360, or $18,000. Man, I guess you are right. You really would have been better with 100% of nothing, than 90% of something.

If you didn't know you dropped a wallet, and someone comes up to you and gives it back before you even realize it, you don't try and give that person a few dollars cash out of that wallet?

I just caught one a few months ago. Turned out I wasn’t the affected pilot and someone else got paid. So be it.

To turn your example around, if you saw another pilot drop his wallet would you keep your mouth shut if you knew you wouldn’t benefit from the encounter?

Contract compliance is on all of us.

I have dozens of ACEs that I have submited that I know I won't get paid for. What's your point?

My point is you guys seem to be arguing that the pilot filing the ACE is somehow entitled to a piece of the recovery.

If you are filing reports to hold the company accountable to contract compliance, whether or not you turn out to be the affected pilot, then I misunderstood the last several posts and my apologies.

You have filed dozens of ACEs and know you won't get paid.... But think you SHOULD get paid. That's the point. That isn't your money and you don't get a finder's fee. It's a silly argument to make.

I have been thinking on this. If I haven’t noticed I was due money and neither has the Union for like say 2 months- then I might be open to paying some sort of finders fee for money owed to me. Otherwise I would never get it. 90% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

It's a pretty clearly laid out unspoken agreement between us as a pilot group. You and I will submit ACE reports. Sometimes I get paid for the ones you submit. Sometimes you get paid from the ones I submit. I guarantee the greedy ones demanding a 10% cut from someone else would be ****ed they "only" got 90% of what was owed to them...

It feels incredibly hypocritical to sit here and demand more people volunteer their free time to work on these reports while also demanding we get a slice of someone else's pie.

Seems this whole thread hasn't heard of the concept of leaving someone a bottle booze with their name on it in the crew lounge for helping them out.

Of course we have. I would always buy a round or two. That's much different than "you should pay me 10% of what I get you."
