Nevermind the fact that many, many union functions are currently done for free, by many gracious and dedicated volunteers.

not at all. Whether you say yes or no informs your opinion of whether your position that all volunteers should be working for free is reasonable. Do you work for free on behalf of your fellow pilot? If not, why not, and why should others?

I also think DALPA has way too many people using FPL, consistently way more than other MECs, often by a magnitude. DALPA has always been a country club and a less than stellar steward of our dues money. So I have little tolerance for them saying they can't afford things like contract compliance. If the ACE app isn't working (and a 6+ month backlog means it isn't working), then it's time to try something else. I know other MECs don't have a 6 month grievance backlog.

Of course I know that. Yes, I do volunteer work, and no, I don't get paid for it nor take FPL.

I think it was stated that whatever date the ACE app says it is working on is the VERY oldest case. I have had some get addressed in a few weeks and some in a few months. I think as long as I get paid I don’t care too much if it is right away or not (would be nice). Additionally when the new reroute rules go into effect on August 1, the ability to know immediately if you are due will make compliance and verification of compliance magnitudes easier. IOW rerouted - paid at 1.5 or 2x period. No need to check for how long a leg soaked or didn’t soak in open time. No need for special access to see when legs were assigned or available to be assigned etc. The MEC is also asking the scheduling team do do extra ALPA days this summer to clear out the backlog as the new rules become effective.
It seems that is not the case. Anyone know how much we are spending on this queue system?
Count me in with hockey pilot. I don’t find it unreasonable to question a system that is not able to keep up with the volume of violations.
Summary of status quo:
Company violates contract. Pilot maybe notices. Company only has to pay IF caught, proven wrong (using our resources) and then only after several months of an interest free loan. Unsat.

What does ACE do besides queue messages from pilots? My understanding at the beginning was that this would automate some/all of the work done to identify violations.

Your summary sounds correct. How do we get a better system? I honestly don’t know other than contract improvement. Luckily the new contract makes the ability to notice way better - rerouted? get paid. I would expect the likelihood of the company violating the contract will be lower because it will be so easy to see and know when extra pay is warranted.

The buzz is we’re paying somewhere north of $50k/month for a system that has barely replaced email. Wouldn’t it be better to funnel that large sum of $ at additional volunteer hours to clear the queue? Then evaluate turning the tap back on when the data pipe has been figured out years from now.
