How are the SDQ and STI layovers? Safe? Drive time?

With the monthly AE's, anyone know how feasible it is to change bases seasonally? I know I'd run the risk of getting stuck if AE's slow down or can't bid back.

As a commuter on the ER I'm thinking of bidding ATL for the fall-winter and then back to NYC before next summer. Am around 50% in both.

HNL is not a good layover. Bad hotel, not on the beach.. it’s by the mall so the FA’s are happy with having reasonably priced food options. Southwest and United have a way better layover in HNL. I would not bid 7ER for HNL

Long. Especially in the evening.

I like the location of that hotel honestly. Short walk to the beach and the park. Lots of food options. Not a bad walk to Waikiki if you want to go there. The rooms aren't great and need updating, I agree.. but overall I'll take it.

they’re cities not beach resorts so it’s nothing special. Both have decent rooftop pools but other than that, you’re not missing much. Both drives suck at night. Lots of traffic

I did notice the hotel is both meh and in a less than awesome location and my wife was "you stay here?" when she came. My HAL friend who lives on the east end of Waikiki was "you stay at the convention center??".

I was OK with the location (we have friends from the Navy in HNL so we don't stay at hotel much) but the room was basically Motel 6.

The drive can take up to two hours. Totally not worth it in my opinion. I don’t think I’m the only one as you could pick up as many as you like from the swap board.

SDQ Layover hotel is fantastic in very safe upper class area. Once in a while you get the Presidential suite which is really nice. Decent gym, fantastic rooftop infinity pool. Ubers cheap if you want to explore city. Tons of high quality restaurants all over the city. Biggest downside is the drive to hotel. On a bad day 2 hrs easy. Normally 45mins. Not out of the ordinary to be late to the jet after pickup because of traffic.I didn't bid any layovers there less than 16 hrs. Safety wide I'd say use common sense like in any big city and you'll be alright.

STI Hotel rooftop infinity pool is very nice. Food in restaurant downstairs cheap. Free breakfast. City is safe but not much to do outside of Hotel.
