Will we ever see a new base?

In my opinion Delta’s bases leave a lot to be desired. I know Boston has been rumored for years but seems dead in the water now. What about a Florida base, or RDU, or even AUS?
Just wondering if we’ll see something better in the future.

I would almost bet we won't have another pilot base in the next 20 years unless there's a merger. Mayybe a virtual base if we let them give that a try again.

In the last 40 years, delta has opened exactly 1 pilot base and closed it less than a decade later (MCO express). But they have closed several. In fact the only pilot base that remains from the ones we had 40 years ago is ATL. Our other 6 pilot bases were all acquired via one merger or another.

There are a lot of people that don’t agree with you. And that’s okay. I personally find UA bases to be way less desirable than DALs. Probably why they are opening a base in FL (I think it’s going to be smaller, and only 737s IIRC). That’s the great part about this gig…different strokes for different folks.
Not everyone will want to live in ATL. Also contrary to what most Texans think, not everyone wants to live in TX (a state that has a higher overall tax burden than TN, FL, GA, SC, NC, AL…)
It’s also why when it comes to “which major should I go with?”, my response is usually “where do you want to live?”.
To answer your question…it ain’t happening at DAL. What you see is what you get. I have a lot of friends in the NE that would love to see a BOS base, and I hope for their sake I’m wrong.

if we can put some guardrails on network, the jetway trading option later this contract might be helpful for those who commute from an airport that should be a base (in the opinion of the commuters who live there).

Lol guardrails on network. The way they change stuff, I don't ever see jetway trades being that effective. I'm for the idea and hope it works for some, just not all that confident.
